baby clothing size question

DD is going to be 3 months at Christmas-- should I find 0-3 dresses or 3-6 dresses for her for the holidays? It's so hard to know what she'll fit into. My guess is with a dress, she could get away with a 0-3 since you don't have to worry about length.

Thanks ladies! Smile

Re: baby clothing size question

  • I'd take a look at the actual size - weight and length recommendations.  For us, especially with dresses, I go smaller. Length gets us every time, but DD is very petite and things hang on her. Kid is 19 months and if it's a top that is somewhat bulky to begin with, she has to wear  9 months! DD had 2 holiday dresses last year, one had really cute, velvet sleeves. Even though she was petite, it was a pain to get on her. What I did, and still tend to do for occasions like these, is get 2 options and then return one :) Can't wait to see the little one dressed up :)
  • It depends. How big was she when she was born? How big is she now? You're the one who knows your kid best. Some kids will fit the 0 to 3 clothes for a while and some practically come out of the womb ready for the 3 to 6 month size.

Helen was born at 6 lb. 2 oz. and had a little trouble gaining weight in the first couple of weeks. She wore newborn size clothes for 2 months, then size 0 to 3 for two months (so up to 4 months old). She has always grown out of the length way before growing out of the weight guidelines.

My LO is the same way. She is a peanut, at 5 months we are just now growing out of 0-3 stuff. How big is your baby? I would go with 0-3, or just wait a month or so and see what size she is.

  • She just got weighed today at the lactation center and she's 9lbs even at almost 7 weeks old... I have a feeling she'll still be in 0-3 for a bit- at least dresses since it doesn't really matter for length as much. The 0-3 clothes still look really big!

  • After meeting her this weekend (yes gals, you can be jealous!), I'd say 0-3 ought to be good for a while- she's so teeny tiny!!!  James has always been a skinny-mini- he's still fitting into some 12 and 18 month clothes at 2 years, 4 months (28 months).
