do you rewear your clothes before washing them?
This is a totally random question, but it's something I am surprised by here.
People wear the same thing 2-3 days in a row (jeans I'm used to...but shirts, skirts?) and I'm always surprised by it. I never noticed people in the US wearing the exact same thing 2-3 days in a row to work or to school.
Does people do this wear you live? Do you think it's weird?
I imagine it's different than the US here because most people don't have their own washer/dryer and it's more difficult to laundry.
Re: do you rewear your clothes before washing them?
They do here usually, too, although not necessarily in a row. I must admit that I've gotten used to wearing pretty much everything except underwear, socks, and workout clothes a few times before washing them (unless DD spits up on them or they otherwise get dirty, of course).
I used to think it was weird and gross, but at some point I stopped. I think it was when I no longer had a dryer and had to dry everything on a rack. If I only wore things once then I would have had to go without pants on a regular basis, I think...

Unless I'm traveling, I don't usually wear the same bottoms more than once. I will wear skirts and jeans several times before washing them, but never in a row. Shirts, I always have to change every day.
Some guys at my H's job do wear the same outfit every day for a week. I agree that it's probably a laundry thing, but I would still want to change the outfits around within the week, let them air out a bit. Maybe that's just me being American, I don't know.

I wear jeans 2 or 3 times before washing, but never 2 days in a row, unless everything else is in the laundry. As for tops, I normally always wear a tank or t-shirt as a first layer, and that always gets washed after one wear.
My DH wears the same thing all the time, but I didn't think that was normal, I think its because he's kind of a slob, but I love him anyway
In CH I often did. I wouldn't wear something two days in a row or anything, but I would wear sweaters, dresses, and tops a couple times before washing them. If we are talking about something that needs to be dry cleaned I'd wear it more than a few times.
Here that isn't possible because I sweat like a pig. I generally go through a couple of outfits a day and once I take something off it needs to be washed.
DH wears an outfit two days in a row but always changes his udershirt...that is unless we are in the states then he changes every day as it's always hot when we are there.
I will wear the same jeans 2-3 days in a row but never tops, I'm too sweaty to do that!
I never wear the same thing to work 2 days in a row, but I will wear pretty much everything except socks and underwear multiple times before washing them.
Maybe (definitely) I'm just lazy, but unless my clothes are stained or smell, they are all getting multiple wears. Sometimes even two days in a row.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest.
I wear jeans a couple times before washing them and some of my sweaters. I just let them "air out" first.
This. I never quite get the thing about not being able to wear things in a row or in the same week, unless they are actually soiled in some way. And anyway, when we are abroad I have two suitcases worth (and this time just one) of clothes so I don't even really think about how often I repeat outfits.
My Blog
I've occasionally noticed that some people have worn the same outfit 2 days in a row, and I think that's strange. If it's not dirty and you want to wear it again, then ok, but at least wait a day in between so people don't notice.
As for what I do, I wear jeans/pants and skirts a few times before washing them. sometimes I'll wear the same pair of jeans 2 days in a row but never the same skirt. Tops, I always wash after one use, except if it's a cardigan or something else that's worn with a layer under it, then it might get a few uses, depending on what it is and what I'm doing in it.
I haven't noticed that here.
I will wear jeans, dresses and sweaters a few times before washing them unless they get dirty or I've gone to a bar and they smell like smoke. I never wear the same thing two days in a row. I need variety!
Daily work wear: I wear a uniform every day (coveralls), so I will wear that more than once unless I spill something on myself or go out in the rain. In the winter I can go about 3-4 days, in the summer I can only do two. I definitely wear a clean t-shirt underneath every day.
Jeans/Bottoms: I'll wear them more than once, but as I don't wear these things every day, if I DO wear them it's usually only for a few hours at a time and not all day. I'll probably rotate between three or four different pairs of jeans for two weeks like this.
Tops: Same as bottoms really, except I can usually only get about one week out of the tops I wear regularly.
I definitely would find it odd for someone to wear the EXACT SAME OUTFIT several days in a row to work. If I wore real clothes to work instead of a uniform, I'd feel weird if I wore the same top or dress twice in the same work-week. I think you could rotate 2-3 pairs of pants or skirts in the work week -- nobody really notices if you wear the same black pants twice in one week -- but tops/sweaters or dresses are more obvious if you repeat them.
I agree.
I always take my clothes off and chamge into "home clothes" when I walk in the door b/c they are more comfortable and I have less time to spill stuff on my clothes etc.
I did this in the US as well. I find it wasteful to wash clothes all the time if they are not dirty. It costs money to wash, plus they don't last as long.
Bio
I will most certainly wear jeans or pants a few times before washing and shirts if I only wear them for a few hours (if I go out to dinner and then back home). My pj's also get worn twice because I shower before putting them on so they aren't really dirty.
I don't get wearing something 2x in a row though...even if I loved my outfit, I will usually wait a day or two and then only wear it if I'm seeing different people. I won't wear the same thing to work 2 days in a row.
Of course my feeling about this is different for people like Enid who are living out of a few suitcases...
I do this too.
When I lived in the States I never wore clothes more than once without washing in between.
However, since I moved here and we don't have a dryer I do usually wear my clothes (underwear and socks excepted) twice before washing unless I somehow manage to soil them the first time in which case I would wash them right away.
My DH would wear clothes, especially pants, more than twice if I let him but then he was used to doing all his own washing before I moved here. I instituted a "two-day max" rule and since I now do all the washing he's fine with that.
