Thoughts and Prayers needed!

My mom told me today that her results from her breast biopsy came back friday and she has breast cancer. My aunt who is only 33 just went in to remission from breast cancer that she was diagnosed last year with. Because now both my mom and aunt have/had it, it places myself and 3 sisters at a higher risk for getting it ourselves.

The prognosis looks good though. They found it early and hers is a very slow progressing cancer whereas my aunts was very fast progressing.

  • T & P's for you and your family. It is fortunate that they caught it early but it is still never an easy thing to go through no matter the stage. *hugs*

  • Thanks. It seems cancer is very strong in our family. I had cervical cancer the same year that I got pregnant with DS and my mom had it too which resulted in her getting a hysterectomy 2 years ago.

  • Your family is in my thoughts.  Early detection is key so at least you can become more vigilant about screening.  I'm glad your mom will have your aunt for support, after what she has successfully been though. ((hugs))

  • T&P sent your way.  I hope you have plans to have regular check-up for yourself.
  • **T&P**  Ditto PP--stay on top of your own check-ups!

After my aunt I went for a mammogram to follow up from a fibrocystic tumor that was removed shortly after having my son. Insurance denied it and had to pay $100 out of pocket for the test. Apparently medical condition or not, if i'm under 30 they won't pay for it so I'm having to stick to self exams.

  • I'm sorry your family is going through this. My mom is in remission from her breast cancer and did fine through out all the treatments. Stay positive. Prayers to your and yours.

  • I'm really sorry about your Mom and will definitely send lots of T&P.  If you want to talk, let me know, my Mom had breast cancer twice.  After years of worrying about my risk I finally scheduled an appointment with a cancer center for a risk assessment.  They evaluate your specific risk and then also help you develop a plan re. lifestyle to reduce long term risk.  I think you live in the same state as me and I can definitely send you their info if you want.

If you could send this info, I would be more than appreciative. I know there is a blood test that I can take that will determine my risk so I'm looking in to this as well.

Thanks everyone for your support. Z has been my rock lately and am very grateful he came in to my life when he did.
