BM dress drama

So my brother gets married on Dec 2. About a month ago I ordered my BM dress not knowing I was pregnant and hoping that if I were to become pregnant the dress would fit me. So my dress got here on friday and when I tried it on it didn't fit me!!!! Gosh it wouldn't even come close to closing from the top part. Not sure what I should do since there are four more weeks to go and only God knows how bloated I'll be.  And the three bags of chips I'm eating right now sure won't help!

  • Can they alter it enough to fit with a little extra give in case you need it?
  • Oh no!

See if you can return and reorder in your size. You may have to pay extra shipping but it would be worth it, IMO.

  • what are you going to do????
Me:39 Dx LPD, Fibroid, AMA and all that goes with that. H:37 Dx low motility and low morphology. TTC since 3/12. Clomid 8/12 and 9/12: BFN. 11/12 on a break for Myomectomy sched. 11/26. Resume TTC early 2013.
  • Order a shawl or a bolero and leave it unzipped (and hope it doesn't fall)? Change it to a corset back? See if you can order more fabric? Try to order a new one? Ask the bride if you could wear a different one in the same color and maybe get the cost of the dress credited for a new one?

Just some of my ideas, since "just lose weight" would be a silly suggestion. Hope you get it figured out.

  • I would definitely call the bride and see if she'd be okay with you switching styles. Hopefully you can order a new one & return the old!

  • If the bride really wants you to wear the same dress, see if you can wear a shawl or something and then just have the back pinned/rigged together.  Good luck!  Hopefully she won't mind you switching the dress.
  • If she insists on the same style, see about re-ordering it, but a few sizes too big. Bring it to a good tailor, and see if they can rig it into an empire waist. Based on the pic you showed, it should be doable. Personally, I like the second one way better, but good luck!
  • Thanks ladies. Her sisters are wearing a different style and she said I could wear that one. I'm still not sure what I want to do. I think I will go check out the one her sisters will be wearing this weekend. I was told that the smallest size they have on the dress her sisters ordered are 2 sizes bigger than what I use, so I have to see if I can have it fixed. If that dress doesn't work, I will wait two weeks before the wedding and hope that their is a dress that fits me on the style she wants from here to Austin, so that we can just pick it up.
