Price Question

Hi. This is the first diaper wreath I made, and I already have friends asking me to make one for them. It still needs a little work, but how much should I charge for something like this? I paid about $20 for everything to make it, so do you think $30 is too high?

Re: Price Question

  • I don't think $30 is unreasonable. I just googled and found a website that charges $65 for a custom wreath.

If you want to make the wreaths cheaper and will be making a bunch of them I would suggest buying a large box of diapers for Cosco / Sams Club / BJs to drive down the price. The diapers are usually the most costly thing.

Also, take into account how long it took you to put it together. Your time is money.

  • My mother always says that when you make something, no one ever pays you for your time.  (ie-quilting or knitting, etc)

So her standard rule of thumb that she heard somewhere is that your take the COST  X  3.

On another note, if you are starting a business or sorts (charging), then my accountant says 1st-you give it away, which you already did, 2nd you set a price and sell low, and 3rd, when you get busy, raise your price. Repeat step 3 as you grow.
