Seek Advice from Gainesville/Haymarket Resident

Hi all. I am here to seek some advice from Gainesville/Haymarket people.  People live outside the area is welcome leaving advice, too.
I open an Asian restaurant in Gainesville, VA six months ago. The location of the restaurant is not very good. Someone even think it is awful. The reason I chose Gainesville was I believe more and more people move to the area, my place will be noticed with marketing and promotion.
I receive positive reviews for my food and restaurant. http://www.yelp.com/biz/season-sushi-and-asian-grill-gainesville#query:asian However, it is not enough for keeping it up. I am not sure if it is because of bad economy prevent people from going out or is my location really awful, people refuse to come...
if you can spare a couple of minutes to answer my questions, you answer and opinion will be appreciated....
1.how often do you choose to dine out every week?
2. Do you choose to cook at home more due to bad economy?
3. how often do you order delivery? or Can someone please tell me if Delivery or Take out is common in this neighborhood?
4. when you order delivery, will you choose just Chinese food, pizza or more sophisticated food, like Japanese food ?
5. Have you change you spending habit, such as ordering take out/delivery due to the downturn of economy?  Your response will help me to decide if i should continue or ...... Anyway, thank you in advance.

  • I'm assuming this post will get deleted soon, but what the heck - I live in your area, and I visit and order delivery from restaurants I've heard of, aka, send me menus and coupons in the mail.  Clicking that link, I see that you are close, but I've never received any sort of advertisement from you in the mail, which is why I would never know to visit you.  I would definitely recommend ramping up your marketing if you want more business!  Good luck.
  • I'll bite too.  Like PP, I've never heard of your restaurant and agree that you definitely need to do more marketing if you want to stay open.  If it was in a location that I pass by frequently, I would be more likely to try it.  Does your restaurant deliver?  We have small kids so we don't get out to dinner much and prefer delivery (take-out is fine but since traffic is so bad around here, I stick only to what is close by in the Gateway shopping center).  I think there is a serious lack of tasty asian restaurants that deliver in this area.

ghostgirl, thanks for your reply. Yes, I do deliver, to both Haymarket and Gainesville.  You can check out us online.www.Seasonofgainesville.com

I agree with you and other poster said, that marketing is essential.  I did send out menus to household, and advertised on Gainesville Times.

Beside newspaper and mail menus, how do people learn there are new restaurants in the neighborhood?
