I have lived my fair share of places, including apartments and dorms and stuff. I have never heard someone so loud!
She just stomps around all day. Like, it makes my light fixtures shake. There are times when the male person living with her (I would assume husband, or partner- there is a baby up there, but who knows) walks around. You can hear the walking like normal, but its not like this... so I doubt its just the floor/common living space.
I just want to ask her why she stomps around. She's a very busy person, she walks stomps about all day long! What is she doing up there?
I tried mimicking the the noise, and I had to jump to be that loud. My mom made such a big deal about us walking quietly in the house, so maybe its my deal... but I just dont get the loud walking
Re: what do you think my upstairs neighbor is doing??
she is somewhat heavier, but not like 300 lbs

I've experienced that with people before. I really just think that in buildings where the floors are a bit thin, if someone steps heavily you'll always hear them. What I mean is that some people put their feet down more softly when they're walking than others it just depends on their gait.
Also some people just get in a hurry. DH kinda run-walks to the kitchen and bathroom when he's playing computer games. Does it sound like the person is walking or running?
I would like to spend a day in your mind. I imagine it to be a lot of fun.
Well, more like a walking pace.
I really dont think its just because the floors are "paper thin" I mean, if it was, it would always sound like that, but the thing is it doesnt always sound like that.
I think she's just a heavy walker. But it sounds angry, so I dont want to talk to her about it... I heard her and her man fighting on the porch, I dont want a piece of that.

I had a couple and their 2 kids above us before and it was awful. It sounded like they were going to fall through the ceiling. Then, we had just a single child above us but she jumped up and down so hard it sounded like she was doing WWE stuff. Theeennn, we had 2 teenagers who tried to throw parties when their parents weren't home. Between kids jumping and then the adults walking with a heavy foot I chalked it up to thin flooring.
I would imagine she's a heavy walker and it sucks bc most people who walk heavy don't seem to realize it.
H and I live on the top floor of our building and I can feel the floor shake sometimes when he walks. He's walking normal, but its like he walks slamming his heel down. I know he doesn't do it on purpose, but I've asked him to try to not do that since we know what it's like to have what sounds like basketball practice living above us. I think it depends on the floors and or just how the person walks...but then again, like you said, it could be angry stomping.
I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate apartment living for that very reason!
They may not have cushioned the floor properly. Some condos have rules on whether you can even have tile b/c of the noise, but it's fine with proper cushioning. In an apartment with shitty construction, even carpet can be noisy.
Photo bomb, yeah!
You know what? This post reminded me that I do know a stomper. It was my old roommate. She'd also clomp around on our wood floors in wood clogs, even though I was on nights and trying to sleep during the day. Despite having 2 masters degrees, she couldn't think through it enough to realize that it might actually wake me up.
