Just in case I don't get to be Snooki....
Although we do have enough people ready to do it to be the jersey shore cast
Where could I find a flapper style dress? I just took mine out and all the little strings are everywhere... I would also want something I could wear my pretty gold shoes with.

Display and Costume at Northgate would have it

don't go there.. just be snooki. that would be amazing. who would your H be from the jersey shore? the situation?
I got it used (goodwill), but after hours and hours of looking (over about a month), as i had a small budget. It didn't have any fringe, and i can wear it again. In your shoes i'd look at a costume or vintage clothing store. You could also get a simple dress with the right shape (or non-shape) to it and add the stringy stuff* to the bottom. If you're careful you could take it off and wear the dress again.
ETA: *Uh "stringy stuff" = fringe. I'm feeling rather bright.

What about finding a drop waist dress and then getting all of the accessories for it?
Something like this:
(I know that one doesn't look like a dress, but I swear it is)
I was originally going to make a dress, so i have a few sites/pictures bookmarked.
Basics of women's '20s fashion: boxy shape (no curves), drop waist (often accented), beading, sequins and fringe, sleeveless w/wide straps or loose sleeves, low scoop neck or boxy and/or asymmetrical neck, bright or pastel colours, just below the knee, light/silky fabrics.
Other stuff: felt hats, flower and feather accents, knee-high stockings, wide/low-heeled shoes (rounded toe, often with a mary-jane or t-strap), boas, scarves, pearls

These are from vintage patterns:
This dress is gorgeous, but being a $1000 wedding gown, probably isn't quite what you're looking for:

Ok, that's probably enough. Did i mention i'm kind of enamored with twenties fashion, of late?
