I found this beautiful rental home in Rehoboth on the Lingo realty website. It's priced much lower than other properties and I wonder if it's because it's on Baltimore Avenue. Do you think it's located in a super busy area that would be really loud at night? Otherwise, the house looks perfect for our family.

ETA: Here's another one I'm looking at. Even though it seems to be in the main area, it seems to be on a more residential street (I'm not sure if that's right or not).

I also called Lingo and spoke with an agent but I'd appreciate any insights you may have.

  • Unfortunately, I think it is going to be really noisy.  I know where that house is (my cousin owns the store on the opposite corner), and I am pretty sure that there is a bar right next door to it; there is definitely a bar with a big outdoor area catty-corner across the street.  There are also a number of other bars  on that block, so you would get a lot of foot traffic outside.

Also, I hope this doesn't somehow offend you or anyone else, but most of the gay bars in Rehoboth are on Baltimore Ave.  It tends to draw a rather loud and boisterous crowd on the weekends and in peak season.  I've been to some of those bars with friends in college, and I would not want to stay next-door to them if I were planning on getting any sleep before 2 or 3 AM.  If you were going to Rehoboth to party every night, I'd say go for it, but I am guessing that with kids, that probably isn't the case :)

  • I just saw the second listing you posted.  I think that one would be fine.  You'd still get some foot traffic being that close to the Avenue, but not nearly as much.  There might be some noise from the Avenue still, but it shouldn't be too bad - there aren't that many bars that far back on the Avenue, and I'm pretty sure there aren't any on that block of Christian St (there are one or two on Wilmington Ave, but in the first block from the ocean).  If we happen to drive by there this weekend, I can let you know for sure.

  • Thanks so much for the info. Yes, I definitely do not want to be next to a loud outdoor bar, especially where there could be music and loud people.

Okay, this is the one I'm leaning towards at the moment because it's a good fit in terms of bedrooms/price, etc. The realtor is going to send me a few other options as well. I don't mind if there's a bit of foot traffic (we usually sleep with fans on for white noise anyway) but I just don't want to be right next to a loud bar with music and people partying. Thanks for all of your help.

  • Okay, so it looks like we found the place we want. The Lingo realtor was super helpful and sent me a whole packet of options along with information about the different areas. I'll PM you the one we are trying to book. I don't want to post here because it's almost completely booked for the summer.
