Thanksgiving & Black Friday

So does anyone have menu, plans for Thanksgiving?  How about Black Friday?

Re: Thanksgiving & Black Friday

  • I <3 Thanksgiving.  I already have the menu set which includes:

    - Alton Brown's Roasted Turkey and Best Gravy

    - Spiral Ham

    - Green Beans w/slivered almonds

    - Carrots w/brown sugar and nutmeg

    - 2 kinds of stuffing

    - Orange cranberry sauce

    - Pumpkin pie cheesecake

    I think that is all

I'm also ready for BF shopping.  Kohls ad has already been leaked and I saw some good items for X-mas gifts.  I still want to see the Target, ON and WalMart ads.  The goal is to get all of our X-mas shopping done that day.

  • Thanksgiving J is working all day so I will be at a friends house eating with them.  Pretty traditional Turkey, potato something, etc. etc.

Friday I refuse to go anywhere near a shopping center, I love to shop, but on black friday when the crazies are out I hunker down in my house and shop online :-)

The Friday we are off to MIL to have a T-giving dinner with her.  bummer.  Because we thought we would get out of it with J working.  Blah.  She does have a super awesome dinner though, with mini sweet and sour meatballs, turkey, potatos, rolls, salad, beans. yadda yadda.

  • K is working on Thanksgiving and all weekend.  I'll probably cook a small turkey for us, and hole up in the house all weekend to avoid the shopping crazies!

  • I'm hosting Thanksgiving again. I've been working on the menu this week. Here's what I have so far:

Appetizers - cheese/veggie/cracker tray, prosciutto bruschetta, pumpkin bisque shooters, cranberry ricotta gnocchi

Main & Sides - herb oven roasted turkey, stuffing (not in the bird), roasted carrots/green beans/cauliflower/butternut squash, cream cheese mashed potatoes with chives, apple-cranberry sauce, gravy, corn.

Dessert - pumpkin pie, apple pie.

I still need to figure out what type of rolls to make and some type of bite-sized dessert.

No definite plans for Black Friday yet, other than I'll be at the stores when they open. So far I really only have one thing on my list. The rest depends on what everyone asks for. Tom and I made an agreement - no impulse black friday shopping this year.

  • We are going to DH's parents house, his mom is a good cook; she'll have turkey, maybe ham, salad, bread, stuffing, mashed potatoes and either yams or I can ask her if I can bring the chicken alfredo from Costco (for some reason that sounds good as an alternative to turkey, lol).

Not planning on going out early for BF. if anything, I'll shop online that day or go out later in the day. I'd like to keep our gifts simple this year since we have some more important things to get next year for the baby.
