Best yoga DVD's...more beginner type

So, I have done yoga in the past, but I would like some beginner dvd's to get for now. I want to start pounding out some miles on the treadmill, but I want to get my breathing under control first. With a yucky heart my breathing can get a little nuts and then next thing I know I feel like I might pass out. So, breathing correctly is #1 to me right now! All suggestions accepted :-)

  • Check your library!!  I never thought of it, but I have a friend who checks out workout videos from the library.  Then if she really likes one she can go out and buy it.  I know WDM has several yoga ones so hopefully Ankeny would too.

  • I don't have any DVD suggestions, but I thought it may be helpful to get a magazine with some basic poses and tips for breathing.  I did this to learn the sun salutation and basic poses and once I felt more comfortable, I took a class.  Sometimes the DVDs aren't at *your* pace, and working with pictures and prompts may give you a better option of customizing it for you and your heart condition.  Also, maybe searching 'progressive relaxation breathing' and using that throughout the day may help with your breathing.

  • If you have a pretty good memory, I'd suggest taking Sexy Flexi at TGR Fitness. It isn't all yoga, but it's a relaxation/flexibility class. If I had a better memory, I'd still have the class memorized and do it every night before bed. If you want to go that route, I'm 98% sure I still have a pass for a free class that you may use. Just let me know!
