mommas of 1yr olds

Sam moved up in daycare and she's in a room with an actual schedule - which means i need one extra snack than i was sending before (she used to get a late breakfast, late lunch and a 4:30 snack before pickup).

now, i send yogurt for breakfast, before 9am.

lunch around 11:30 is usually meatball or chicken with a pile of canned peas and carrots, grilled cheese sandwich with fruit puree, might start chicken nuggets and smile fries and a veggie soon too.

2:30 snack: mozzarella cheese stick or banana

5pm dinner/snack: mozzarella cheese stick or banana - whatever she didn't have before

we eat dinner as a family around 6:45/7pm.

these two afternoon snacks are going to get boring! lol! i'm thinking cereal bars, goldfish crackers, and fresh fruit or pouches of fruit would be good.

any other great ideas? preferable finger foods and healthy choices.

she didn't like broccoli cheese nuggets i got her. i don't want it to be all cracker related either. i cannot remember what i used to send for Ava!

  • LB loves raisins, her new fav snack.  In addition to that, I give her Annie's O's.  Like cheerios but they are organic and all natural.  They have plain, fruit flavored (like an all natural organic fruit loop) and cocoa.. like cocoa puffs.

  • J is in love with cereal bars.  I started with Earth's Best but moved to Nutragrain, currently he is in the 12 step program/detox because they were all he would eat.  I bought ones from Walmart and he threw them on the floor, every time.  So not only is he an addict he has standards LOL.

Fruit squeezes, raisins, pretzels, goldfish are other snack.  I love everything Gerber makes also and usually have something in my diaperbag and in car by them.

  • You could send the Dr Praegers veggie nuggets. A loves the spinach ones.

    Ditto on the fruit pouches.

Melis-n-mike got us hooked on Grammy Sammies from BRU. Basically a pb&j but with diff flavors. Graham crackers with vanilla yogurt and strawberry/blueberry jam in the middle.

    Apple sauce

    Animal crackers

I know you want to offer her variety but she's 1 and wont know the difference! GL

  • Have you tried Veggie flavored pirates bootie.  Kids seem to love that stuff.

i gave her a trader joes cereal bar - half of it - and she gobbled it up yesterday. i could probably send in a full one next time.

she takes some fruit squeezes, but she gets super excited and spritzes it up into the air sometimes. it's messy!

i had no clue they made that - will look for them - thanks!

  • k eats the same thing for breakfast and lunch every day - what about like diced peaches or pears cups (they make them without syrup and they are soft), applesause, those veggie/fruit pouches (like ella's kitchen - K loves them not because she can squeeze them into her mouth by herself).
