Welcome to the SEC!
Re: Mizzou ladies
Lyns -- I can't say that I'm all that excited about having another Tiger in the SEC. hell even Auburn realizes there should only be one tiger at a time which is why they're the war eagles then. But I'm super excited about playing you in games!!!
Geaux LSU tigers!!!!! Lol
I'm on Chrome but 2 thumbs up to this post!
Welcome!
Yeah, it is strange to have 3 tigers in one conference. But, I think with super conferences coming our way (it seems to be inevitable) there are going to be dup/trip/etc mascots in most conferences.
I am pretty excited about the opportunity to join the SEC. I am sad to leave our traditions in the Big 12, but it seems to be a sinking ship. I think the Big 12 has taken huge steps by adding TCU and possibly WVU (depending on the legal issues), but with Texas and OU ready to get out at any minute and also the lack of equal sharing of the money - the Big 12 may be doomed.
There are tons of nay-sayers around here. My honest feelings are that we are far from being able to win the Big 12 when we have to play OU, Texas, and OSU each year. So we tend to fall middle of the pack each year. I think we are going to find ourselves in the same position in the SEC. We won't be able to beat LSU, Florida, and Alabama from year to year (for a long time, anyway) so I see us falling middle of the pack in the SEC as well....just with more money and a more stable conference. It may take a couple of years to get to that middle of the pack, but I fully expect to get there. I don't anticipate it being an easy transition. In fact, I think the first 2-3 years will probably suck but we will get there.
I have to say that I am glad that it seems we will be in the east conference. We get to avoid a yearly meeting with Alabama, Auburn, and LSU.
And we are really hoping that our yearly cross division rival is Texas A&M to keep our recruiting base in Texas.
Just a note - a lot of my opinions are based on football. I haven't done enough research to see how things pan out with the other sports.
Sorry, that turned out kind of long. Bottom line - thanks for the welcome. I'm excited.
Our away games vs Vandy are going to be high on our list of games to go to. We will definitely have to meet up in Nashville. Are y'all Vandy fans?
