What's Everyone Reading?

I am currently reading "The Last Letter from Your Lover" by Jojo Moyes which was recommended by someone on this board previously (lroc?).  I really like it, although it was a little slow at first.

Since I am almost finished it, I am looking for some inspiration as to what to pick up next.

  • Right now I'm finishing up the last book in the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. You can totally judge me on my book selection-I, in fact, judge myself for actually getting sucked into this series.

  • I just finished Mia Farrow's memoir, What Falls Away. It was so good...I want to read it all over again.

  • elizabeth and hazel: the two women of little rock.  excellent story, but its been very difficult for me to read.....its just crazy how i went to school so long after this, but many of the situations i faced were very similar

  • I just finished the Hunger Games trilogy, which was good easy reading.  I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. I'm looking forward to the movie which is coming out next Spring.

And right now, I'm reading the Steve Jobs biography.  Awesome book.  I was worried that it would be too tech or business oriented for leisurely reading, but that is not the case.  Very interesting; I'm flying through it actually.

  • I'm new to the nest, but saw your post and just finished a pretty good book... "The Art of Racing in the Rain"- Garth Stein. It's told from the dog's perspective and I think was on the NY Times bestseller's list for a while. (Sounds cheesy, but it's actually really good!) Smile

That was such a good book.

I just read Two Kisses for Maddy by Matt Logelin.  Be forewarned that this was an emotional book.  You can check out Matt's blog for the background but it was really really good.

     I also recently finished...

    • The World As We Know It by Joseph Monniger which was good.
    • The One That I Want by Allison Winn Scott - This was a quick read.  Not too though provoking but good.
    • Who Love You Best by Tess Stimson.  This was an interesting book.  Again, not too thought provoking but good.

  • I'm reading the Steve Jobs biography too. Fascinating stuff.
  • I am working on House Rules by Jodi Picoult.  I feel like I have been reading this book forever, but I keep putting it down for long periods at a time.  I like it so far.

Next up is Skipping Christmas by John Grisham.  My book club always picks a holiday book for our December gathering.

After that is Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand.  I've heard it's amazing.

  • I just finished the last book in the Stieg Larsson series, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest and I thought it was the best one of the three.  Oddly enough it was the longest - which worried me due to his tendency to get wordy.  But I think I read it faster than the others, it moved very quickly

I just started Water For Elephants

  • I just finished "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks", I liked it so much I read it twice. Last week on the plane I read "the Help", it was an easy read. Today I'm plowing through, "The Other Boleyn Girl".

I usually post on The Nest Book Club but lurk over here occasionally.  I just finished the audio book of Henrietta Lacks today and loved it. I'm not normally a fan of non fiction but it was really listen to!  I'm currently reading The Help and really enjoying it.

For those that are regular readers I suggest checking out goodreads.com  if you haven't already.  It helps me keep track of what I want to read and what I've read already.

  • I'm finally reading the Harry Potter series and am almost done.  I'd wanted to read them all then see the movies before Halloween.  But so far I'm so disappointed in the movies after having just read the book.  I guess that's pretty typical though!
