Beagle we need a wedding update!!
Re: Beagle we need a wedding update!!
It's 10 days away! Whee!
We just got our marriage licsense this morning. Was anyone else asked if they had an STD, or do they just think we've got something going on?
A neighbor of FI, who he has known for his whole life and was like a grandfather to him, passed away yesterday. That made the election victory bittersweet. It was sudden, which I think is how he wanted to go. He would have hated having a long illness.
Right now I'm trying to decide if I should bring up cancelling a surprise we had for our fathers. Steve's dad went to Penn State, and is a huge fan. We were going to play the PSU fight song as he walked into the reception, and my dad's alma mater fight song when they walked in. Given what has been going on, I feel it might be in poor form to do that now. I would talk to FFIL about it, but it was supposed to be a surprise.
Yikes wrt the Penn State fight song at the reception. That may not go over too well right now, IMHO. I can't believe only 10 days. wow!
Yes, we were asked if we had STDs, too. I think it's standard. I do wonder, though, how many people are like, "YEP! We both have them!" I mean... if you really had a STD, would you actually admit to it? So weird. Is that borderline HIPPA violations? I know I'm stretching it here but really, it's someone's private medical information.
I'm trying to think of an STD that would make you incompetent to get married, but all I can think of it late-stage syph. And in that case, you'd KNOW.
I'm going to talk to FI, I don't think I'm comfortable with it at this time. It's really too soon. EDIT: And my too soon, right now it's impossible to separate pride for your alma mater with the sex abuse case. And I don't know if he would even consider himself a PSU fan after this. He loved Paterno, his whole family did. This shatters whatever respect they had for him, and it's hard to imagine that his program run by this man, who built his career on building character in his players could not have done everything in his considerable power to bring Sandusky to justice and protect the victims.
i laughed when they asked about the std.
sorry for his loss.
and yeah that song might be a bad idea or at least get side eyes from the crowd.
cannot wait for the picsss!
