We always double the tax and then round up to the next dollar.

    tax ~9.5%, double = 19%+

you are probably in the 18-20 range.

  • I think I ruined the poll. I meant to put down 18-20 but I think I ended up going 15-18. I don't know why. I blame it on the week.

It's also slightly SS. If we're up in Vancouver, we tend to tip between 12-15 instead of 18-20, depending on what kind of restaurant. If it's Asian lower, if it's western higher. Tipping culture is kind of different based on cuisine up there.

bc asian restaurants are usually family-owned..and it's similar to when you tip less or none for your wedding vendors for "their own business"...they already get all all the profit, so they don't need "tip" in addition. it's different if it's a *big* restaurant, and they have actual employees, and not family-employees.

dude. wth. I tipped all of my wedding vendors, even if they owned their own business. I tip all of my "peeps" for the holidays and they all own their own business too.

gah. I wish people could make a fair, living wage and we didn't have to deal with this tipping crap.
