Adopting a family/child for the holidays?
When I lived in another state our school paired up with a lower income school and adopted families. There was a big board and people just pulled cards off the board with various items listed that the family requested. DH & I loved buying clothes and toys for the family. Does anyone know of a program like this in Omaha?

agreed, your Angry is misplaced. I hear you, I do, but this is not a big deal.
FWIW, I don't support the Salvation Army as they have some VERY discriminatory practices toward same-sex partners of employees, hiring of gay employees, etc.
No red bucket for me, thanks.
Perhaps the WCA (formerly YWCA) or your church community would have some recommendations for a family in need?
Agreed. We dont' support the Salvation Army either.
The Open Door Mission has a program. http://www.opendoormission.org/sign-adopt-a-family

The Hy-Vee on 108th and Fort has a 'Be a Santa to a Senior' tree. It looks like the names come from Home Instead Senior Care
