Things to Do in Ocean City in the Winter

I am thinking of running away for a few days to Ocean CIty.  Is anything open there?  I know it will be quiet, which is what I am looking for, but I would liek to be able to go out to eat, etc.

Thanks!

Re: Things to Do in Ocean City in the Winter

  • Yeah, definitely quiet. We contemplating going down this weekend, but there just wasn't anything going on. There is always the outlets in Rehoboth and the parks at Assateague. www.ococean.com usually has a calendar of events. A lot of restaurants will still be open - some even do Thanksgiving specials.

  • Oh and after Thanksgiving, they have a light show set up at the end of the board walk.
  • I was also going to recommend Assateague - you can drive through the park, or get out and walk around if it's warm enough.

A lot of the OC stores and restaurants are very seasonal, although there are definitely still things open - my parents used to go to OC for their anniversary every December.  In OC, I would recommend Fager's Island for dinner (if you don't mind an early dinner, get there around sunset for a drink, there's a great view over the bay) and the Bayside Skillet for breakfast or brunch (they have great crepes).  If you're looking for a hotel rec, the Hilton is very nice (only 2-3 years old) and has an indoor pool.

If you go to Rehoboth one day, a lot of the stores and restaurants on the Avenue will be open as well, and may be worth checking out in addition to the outlets.  There's a lot of cute boutique stores, which you don't really find in OC.

  • I wanted to second the endorsement for The Bayside Skillet - I just love that place.  The Potatoes Tara is not at all healthy, but so so good!
