Long vent

I just really need to vent, this may be long.

In these last few weeks we have had to replace our router and our modem.  The hard drive in my lap top totally died, so I lost everything on there including pictures, so I am really bummed about that.  We still need to buy a new hard drive and order a recovery disk.

On Sunday our washer broke, so we have a lot of laundry to do, and I am running very low on workout clothes.  We spent most of Sunday and most of Monday night working on fixing it, going to try it tonight and hopefully it works, but even so I am sure we will need to replace it soon.

We have friends coming from out of town on Friday that are staying with us all weekend, and having people over Friday night to celebrate DH?s 30th birthday (of course less than half of the invitees have responded, ugh) and now the house is a mess.  I planned to clean the house on Sunday, and finish up throughout the week, but I have not even started because of the washer.

Our receiver is starting to make weird noises, so we will likely have to replace that soon.  I had numerous unexpected medical bills come in the last few weeks.  And then yesterday my driver side window stopped working, which is hugely annoying because it is all the way up, and when it is all the way up there is some weird rattling sound, so I always put it down just a little.  And it is also very annoying because when I go on to center every day I have to roll down my window at the gate to show my badge.   I will be taking that in to get fixed.

Ugh, I feel so overwhelmed and frustrated!  It feels like one step forward, 3 steps back.  I am tired of spending money on things breaking, and on overpriced medical bills.  And all of it is so time consuming as well.

Then I feel guilty being annoyed at having to spend all this money, because really, we can afford it, we have the savings, and a lot of the stuff is more want than need.  I guess it is more that is all happening in like a 3 week span.  And there are other things that I have on my wish list that I would much rather spend that money on.

And now my back is in a bunch of knots because it all has me so stressed and burnt out.  I just keep thinking, ?what is next.?  At least I get a 3 day weekend, that will be nice.

Thanks for letting me vent, and if you got this far, you have earned a delicious cookie.

Re: Long vent

  • I read the whole thing, send me my cookie!!!

But really, UGH, I feel ya.  There are definitely times when things happen in bunches like that (actually, they never seem to happen one at a time!!).  I don't know what to say to help you, other than I've been there too and it suckss.  Good luck with everything.  Being an adult really suckks sometimes :(

  • I think you are the one who has an earned a cookie! I'm sorry all that's happening, I guess when it rains it pours!

Hopefully this all means that things can only get better and maybe having friends over and celebrating H's birthday will help take your mind off things, if only for a little while.

  • Allison, I was going to find a more festive Fall/Thanksgiving cookie, but to me chocolate ship cookies are just to good.  So chocolate ship cookies for all!

    Enjoy  :)

And yes, when it rains, it pours is definitely the case here.

  • Don't feel bad about venting about this stuff! It sucks! Especially when you would rather spend your money on other things. Currently, our fridge is being weird, and I am afraid we are going to have to replace it. That would be okay, but we HAVE to get new carpet throughout the entire house. If this baby sticks, the thought of having a newborn on that carpet grosses me out! (It was from the previous owners, and I know they had a couple of big dogs...)

  • When it rains it really does pour, huh? I'm sorry you're dealing with all of this frustration. I guess you just have to remember that that's what savings are for, and once this string of awfulness is over, you'll have a bunch of brand new things that WORK and hopefully won't break for a while! That probably doesn't really help right now, but I tried. It'll be over soon, and I hope you have fun at H's bday party to get your mind off things!

That is so true, but the problem is that I feel it will just continue, with something else breaking, and become an endless cycle.   I really do hope it all ends soon.  It has been a rough year overall and I am hoping that 2012 brings better things.

DH's party should be fun, so I am looking forward to that.

Thanks everyone for listening, it was good to just get it out.

  • Wow, talk about a test.  I'm sorry.  :(  I understand your frustration so vent all you want.
DH recently took a 401k cash-out from his former employer; it was a nice, big hefty check and 2 days later after we deposited it into savings and paid off 4 credit cards the company stopped payment on the check (saying they paid out too much), leaving our savings account in the red and making me look like a fool given that I work as an auditor for that bank.  Now our savings is dwindling so if all that stuff were to happen to us we'd be screwed.

I hope you guys get all your stuff in order, and DH has a happy 30th birthday!!  Hugs!

Wow Cindy, that is so frustrating that they told you that you were getting so much, and then changed it.  It must feel great to have 4 credit cards paid off as a silver lining though.  I am sure that your co workers at the bank understand that there was a mess up.  Keeping my fingers crossed for you that noting breaks for a while and you are able to clear everything up.

  • Sometimes I wonder if stuff happens all at once just to see how strong we really are?  I agree that it totally sucks!  I really hope that you are able to find the silver lining in it all, so to speak.  Smile

Sending lots of vibes that Rick's party goes smoothly this weekend!

  • Melissa, I sometimes do feel like it can be some weird test that the Universe is throwing at people when stuff like this happens.

Thanks for all the vibes and such that Rick's party goes well!
