Anyone seen Jersey Boys?

My mom mentioned that she was dying to see it and I just saw this deal on Travelzoo and bought us tickets for when my parents are down at Thanksgiving.

I am totally not a fan of musicals, so I'm totally taking one for the team.  Is it any good?

Any suggestions of where to have a late lunch/early dinner afterwards near the National Theater?  We'll be going to the 2pm performance on the day after Thanksgiving.

Re: Anyone seen Jersey Boys?

  • My mom and I are going to see it this Saturday - I won tickets from Mix 107.3, and I'm so excited to go! But I love musicals and have been wanting to see it.

  • Oh my goodness, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jersey Boys. It's my absolute favorite. I saw it in New York and here in DC two years ago.

I generally don't love all musicals, but Jersey Boys is so good. My mom is from the town where the Jersey Boys started, so I grew up listening to the music and she took me to see Frankie Valli perform a bunch of times as a kid, so their music is in my blood. But, it really is excellent.

  • Oh GOOD!  Those are two ringing endorsements... maybe I won't totally hate it Big Smile

  • We saw the touring company a year or two ago in DC.  It was excellent. I didn't want to see it at all since I am not a fan of that type of music. However, I loved it!  I even got the soundtrack which is saying something.  I am sure you'll enjoy it.

  • I LOVEDDD it when I saw it in NY! And I also bought the soundtrack, which I literally have not done in years for anything. So worth it.

We usually eat at Old Ebbitt Grill when we go down to the theatre.

It's a few blocks away but not a bad walk if the weather's nice.  We're a big fan of Clyde's restaurants so we always like the Old Ebitt.
  • Old Ebbitt is good....also Cafe Du Parc in the Willard or at the very least a drink at the Willard. that is my all time favorite hotel in DC. i feel  like a million dollars when i go there.
  • For what it's worth, I went to high school with Jarrod Spector (who plays Frankie Valli) and he's really talented.  I was in theater and acting class with him, and he had a Broadway career even as a small kid.  I'm definitely planning on catching the show this time around!
