UPDATE: Nov 11: the cupcakes are history. They did not resurface today- lol! I do not know what I would have done if that package found its way back to the kitchen table.
***************************************************************************************
i brought in a plastic clamshell pack of 6 leftover decorated cupcakes from Sam's party this weekend to my office on Monday. The cupcakes were picked up on Saturday, served Sunday.
Yesterday afternoon, I saw that there were 2 leftover and I decided that they were old and no one seemed interested after 3 days and I tossed them. They probably should have been refrigerated too. I tossed it around 4:30pm or so - we close at 5pm.
This morning, I went into our kitchen and lo and behold- they are back on the kitchen table! Someone took them out of the trash ![]()
one is missing, i assume eaten, and worse - the one left over was picked at. someone took off the decorations (sugar pumpkin and chocolate licorice) and left the cupcake and now pockmarked frosting.
i'm so grossed out.
i've been bringing in bags of fun size candy daily too and replenishing the supply - so how desperate can someone be for chocolate/sweets that they go through the garbage and leave a touched/picked at one behind too?!
Re: UPDATED: i am totally grossed out by some anonymous coworker
That reminds me of the SATC episode when Miranda was eating cake all the time. One day she made a cake, ate half of it, then threw it in the trash so she wouldn't eat any more, and still picked at it (lol), then poured dish soap all over it so she couldn't eat it. Hee Hee.
At least that was her own garbage! I may pause to give that a 2nd consideration too...

True...
LOL...I'm not gonna lie, I threw away some perfectly good chocolate the other day and don't think I didn't think about going back for it. Good thing I dumped my extra salad in the garbage on top of it.
In my old company this situation definitely happened and it was the 88yr old man who owned the company putting that sh!t back out cause he thought it was wasteful to throw out. haha and at that point I hated most people there so I'm not gonna lie I reveled in the fact people were eating shiit that'd been in the garbage. I did warn the people I liked tho so lucky for them.
ewwwww!
But I think maybe we have the same co-worker!!! LOL
well, it's been a few hours and no one is touching the lone picked over cupcake, so i tossed it. again.
if it's on the table in the morning, i'm going to freak out!
a colleague thinks maybe it was the cleaning service that took it out and started to eat it, and left it behind instead of taking it along or trashing it again. but who knows! i think she doesn't want to think it's a coworker - lol!
Or maybe she was the culprit??!
definitely not her! that's why i was able to talk to her about it. I didn't mention it to anyone else because I did not want to see an expressions if that person was it! haha!
