Weird... Massage Envy?

Regardless of your opinion, my mom gave me a gift certificate there for prenatal massages. I have an appointment scheduled (my second), but wanted to verify my appointment time. I go to their website, search for the one in South Portland.... and nothing comes up. Does anyone know if they disappeared off the face of the planet? I'm sure I have their phone number in my purse, but I'm too lazy to go look it up until school is over.

Re: Weird... Massage Envy?

  • That is weird.  I just went over to the website and did the search and nothing came up, but if you click on the state of Maine it pops up.  Seems like it maybe a programming error.  Here's the number 772-7770.  Enjoy the massage!  I loved my prenatal massage.

  • I was at Sam's Club the other day and I feel like I saw it...772-7770 is the number listed on their site...it still comes up for me.

How did you like it there?  My mother has a once/month subscription back in NY and loves it, but I didn't know how consistent they were from place to place.

  • Very strange. At least it's not just me.

I think the massage was good (not the best I've ever had, but it was my first prenatal, which is very different than traditional). But what got me the most was the pushy sales pitch at the end trying to get me to join their monthly plan. I was relaxed and then she spent 10-15 nailing me to the wall getting me to do it. So much for being relaxed. I talked them in to giving me another "first time" deal on a massage (to use up the rest of my gift certificate), but I won't go back unless I have another certificate. There are better places closer to where I live that don't give me a sale pitch every time. And they are cheaper. And I can usually find groupons, etc. for them to make it just as cheap as the introductory rate at ME.

  • Yuck...sorry for the bad experience.  I don't know why, but this doesn't surprise me, even with my mother's good experience.  I know, for her, my aunt had the subscription and when they had a sale going on, my mother decided to get one, too, so she went in with the intent of purchasing it...therefore, no pushy sales pitch.

It does seem there are plenty of really nice, independent spas in the area to choose from.  Right, with Groupon, etc. you can always find a good deal.

  • Boo, that stinks. Last thing I want to do after a massage is talk. Let me drink my water and go!
