diaper pail

Our diaper pail smells so bad and I have cleaned it a million times, should I just buy a new one?

Re: diaper pail

  • What are you cleaning it with?  Do you use disposables or cloth?

Bleach, vinegar.  We are using disposable.  I took everything apart that I possibly could.

If bleach and vinegar didn't do it, I would honestly get a new one.  That leftover smell is the worst!

  • We had the diaper champ and it started to smell really bad too. We tried everything as well and decided just to get rid of it and throw them in the regular trash.  It lasted a good year, but dang did it start to smell. I even tried putting air fresheners in the lid, didn't help at.all. We took it outside and filled it with Lysol cleaning stuff and water and let it soak for 2 days. Nothing worked. It was gross.

  • What brand is it?  We had the Diaper Genie and never had a smell problem (even sold it at E's sale!).  Wonder if the brand has anything to do with it??
  • We had the diaper champ and when it started to smell I put it in the shower and put HOT water and bleach in it. I left it like that overnight and then put it outside in the sun for 2 days. Took it back inside and cleaned it with a bathroom cleaner. It was good as new and I sold it at one of E's sales.

This is the one we have, and I love it! I change the baking soda out once a month just to keep it fresh.
