DH and I are going out for a rare date night on Friday. I've already decided to splurge on some deliciously unhealthy Mexican food, but I don't know if we should go to Chuy's or Lupe Tortilla. If it matters, both are the Katy locations and both are pretty new. Thanks!

Re: Very Important Poll
Which Target? I go to the one at 99 and Westheimer but I can't think of a restaurant near there.
This!
It's not in the same shopping center as the Target, it's a little further down past Target if you are heading towards 10, by Ooh La La, right past Commercial Center Blvd.
I think it's a hard choice - I go to one or the other for very different dishes.
The Chuy's chicken stuffed chile relleno with deluxe tomatillo sauce is a unique blend of flavors none of the other Mexican food restaurants can come close to - for THAT dish.
But the tortillas at Lupe's are to die for and their fajitas are really good (Pappasitos is still my fave for fajitas in Houston but Lupes works so I don't have to drive far).
Their beans for dipping chips in are delish too. AND they have an awesome Skinny Rita.

I agree! I dislike the salsa at both places, too. However, I chose the spicy charro bean dip at Lupe's over the creamy jalapeno. I don't like the taste of jalapenos, even in a cream dressing.
NOT a weirdo - I am NOT a fan of Lupe either

I'm not set on those two. They're both new and always packed so I assumed they're both good. But I'll add Las Alamedas to the list. Thanks!
Ok, I know where that is. I've probably passed it a million times and never noticed it. Thanks!
Go to La Finca. Hands down. Don't go to those other places. LT is HORRIBLE there. We waited I think for 2 hours for our food. Terrible service. And I just don't like Chuys. And can I come? We have a La Finca in the front of our hood and we always go on Fridays. Finca Friday!
um, what? since when? we aren't friends anymore.
Chuy's has better queso too. But Lupe has a-maze-ing tortillas.
I dont know. The more I eat it the more I don't like it. I love their ranch but besides that their food isn't the best. And YAY little girl has a name!!

Um, of course!!! And we still need to get the babies together for a play date!!!
I voted Chuys, the original Lupes is good too.... I LOVE Chuys salsa the most though.
Although my favorite in Katy is El Rancho, There's one on Fry near Westheimer (I think) and the other is on !-10, around Barker Cypress (you can see it from the highway, it's where an italian restaurant used to be and used to be at Fry and Saums. We were total regulars there when we lived nearby.,
