Dr. Update- Teacher Tiff Please Come In
The Doctor's office just called me back.
My Beta from Monday was 673. When I gave blood yesterday, I requested they check my Progesterone level as well, just in case.
Today my beta was 1029. The doctor was happy they had gone up, but said it is at the low end of where she wants me so I have to go back on Monday to give blood again.
My progesterone, however, was only at 3.2. The doc is calling in a script for prometrium and I will be taking it once a day.
They also scheduled me for an ultrasound on Wednesday.
I am relieved, but scared all over again. Teacher Tiff- I know you had low progesterone with Nolan- any advice?

I actually think that is exactly what my levels were with Nolan. They were higher this time (8-something) but still low. Did he call in the vaginal suppository or an oral pill? I have experience with both, and I think Brooke also has experience with the oral pill.
The only advice I have is to start it ASAP. Some doctor's will tell you that it has great success and others will tell you it does nothing. It's a good sign that your doctor has already called it in, I had to fight for it. If it's the vaginal suppository they are messy and not fun but just stock up on panty liners and cross all of your crossables! I always tried to lay down for at least 30-60 minutes after inserting it, even though my directions said 15 minutes. It made me feel better.
Your beta levels sound good so hang in there. I know it's such a mind game at this point. The progesterone will start to work as soon as you take it, even though you won't feel any different. It's job is to make your uterus lining nice and thick so baby can stick around, and in my experience if they repeat the b/w your levels may go up but not much because the vag. suppositories aren't absorbed into the blood stream like the oral pills are. If you're on the oral pills, they will make you very tired unfortunately.

What kind of prometrium are you taking? I took it as a pill form twice a day for many weeks. I just took my last one two nights ago. It is very common to take it. And I know that Tiff took it with Nolan. We had a conversation about it when I first got my subscription. The good news is that low progesterone has an easy fix.
How much time was between the two blood draws? I don't think those numbers seem bad. The larger the number, the slower it is to double. Mine did not double within 48 hours once it was around 1000.
I am just so thankful for you sharing your experience. When I was pregnant the first time, I asked my doctor if she would check my Progesterone. She said that it wasn't anything to worry about until at least 8 weeks, but she would go ahead and check it if I wanted.
This pregnancy, I requested she check it again. If not for you, I doubt it would have ever been checked so I am really thankful for that. The nurse said she was calling in a prescription for Prometrium and I needed to take it every evening, so I am assuming it is the pill form? She didn't tell me how strong it would be or anything.

I will update you once I pick up the prescription, I am not sure what it is exactly. I had my first draw Monday at 3:40 and my second one Wednesday at 3:40, so 48 hours. The doctor said that was low. From what I have researched, in 48 hours it should have gone up 60%, which would have been 1077- so the 1049 didn't seem bad. I am afraid but feeling a little optimistic.

I am such an advocate for progesterone testing now. I really don't know why it isn't just standard protocol... when they're already taking 3-4 vials of blood, what's one more?
