also s/o your next wedding

Does anyone ever read the Second Weddings board on the knot? I've checked it out a couple of times. It doesn't seem very active. And I don't feel like I would have much in common with the people who seem to post there. The "It's Normal" sticky post is kind of interesting, though. The first few:

Its normal to feel guilty that you are having a second wedding
Its normal to feel scared to commit again
Its normal to have some doubts
Its normal to worry that your credibility is in question since you vowed "forever" once before (but it is important to know that your credibility is NOT actually in question, because things change)

I hope so because I'm in the same boat
  • I didn't know they had a board either.

If it wasn't for the fact that I want a couple of kids I would have no incentive to get married ever again.

  • Yeah, I saw that board a while back.

IMO, I don't think any of those things are "normal" when planning a second wedding. But, that's my opinon. If you have doubts, you shouldn't be getting married.

I agree.  That is horrible advice.

    We're kind of going out.
  • Well, if life were so perfect.

I have no idea how I'll feel when I'm at the point of getting married again. But I will definitely be more certain than the first time ;)

  • With all the marriage talk BF and I have been having I wouldn't say I feel *guilty* about a second wedding, but I have wondered if it's ok for me to go all out like I did with the first one. Is it appropriate to have the big dress and the nice reception and all... BF says yes because he cheated on me so it cancels everything out lol! That thought is long gone though, we want a nice wedding we're going to have one regardless of what is considered "appropriate" and anyone who doesn't like it can suck it.  There are some other little things like will I have my dad walk me down the aisle again? But I don't feel guilty. I agree if you feel those things you shouldn't be getting married yet.

Interesting way of putting it - but I agree with you! I'm still on the fence about having kids, but I would definitely want to be married if I decide I want children. Other than that, I don't really see the point of getting married again.

Agree it's terrible.  Especially after the first marriage ends in divorce, you should NEVER have a doubt when you remarry.

I think it's trying to make people feel better but seriously, if they can't feel good about it on their own then maybe they shouldn't be doing it.  Probably their conscience talking.
