Winter dressing baby

I am clueless about how to dress Charlie in the up and coming months of winter. Help me oh Wise Mamas! :)

Re: Winter dressing baby

  • We did layers....onesie, LS shirt or light sweatshirt, pants, socks, hat if needed, and then put either a blanket over him in the carseat or used our super thick shower cap style carseat cover.  I had a thinner fleece jacket that he wore if he needed an extra layer of protection.

If it was really cold and I knew we'd be outside more, I layered his tight fitting PJ's under his clothes or kept him in cotton PJ's with a fleece sleeper over the top.  Evan was born in July if that helps :)

  • I've been doing the same thing -- layers with onsie, LS shirt (or onsie), pants, and socks (if he'll keep them on). I have a somewhat thin jacket with hood and one that's a little thicker without a hood, and a hat with mittens (haven't used the mittens yet though). If it's really cold or windy in the morning, I cover him with a fleece blanket (he's out of the infant seat so I carry him everywhere). My mom got him a full body suit that is thick but not overly thick that I feel comfortable with him being in the carseat with when it is colder.

My issue is DCP's rooms are really warm, and I don't want him to be too warm there! If he seems warm, they just take his shirt off and leave him in the onsie and pants. (If I put him in a sweatshirt, knowing he will probably get warm, I make sure the onsie is a little thicker).

  • Ugh, I am having such an issue with this. Lyra does not keep her heat well at all. I feel like I need to have her all bundled up just for in the house and I'm walking around in shorts and a t-shirt.

  • Elsie was like a little heater.  We dressed her in a sleeper or LS onesie, pants and socks during the winter when she was younger, we didn't double layer.  So far that is what I've done with Ian and he seems to stay warm, other than the drool soaked spots and his hands sometimes when he's been chewing on them (this kid is the drooliest).

We have the car seat cover or use a blanket on cold days to take Ian from car to daycare.
