I'm so bored and trying to avoid paperwork.  Lets get the board going again please....

Re: Flamefuls anyone?

  • I did an intake with a pregnant woman today.  She memtioned her wife.  It took everything in me to be culturally sensitive and not ask "so, how did you get knocked up if you're in a relationship with a woman?"  and it's probably flameful to admit that I'm assuming she got KU because, who knowingly goes through that process (a fairly complicated one for a lesbian couple, I would assume) to get pregnant knowing she's going to jail?

I totally don't give a shitt about my "real" job anymore.

Come on, I can't be the only one with a flameful!

  • At my dance teaching job, I've had to change 2 of my dance songs and 3 costumes because they're too "risque". Either the lady I teach for is a prude or I'm a sluuuu. Either way it's caused way more work for me than I was prepared for.

    I don't think that's flameful. More of a vent I suppose. Sorry!!

Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • I know they say TV before 2yrs old is bad but T loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and if it gets me 30 mins to myself to either wash bottles or just sit on the nest then I will take it. She seems developmentally fine to me, oh well. She also likes watching the news.

On a related note Phoenix has loved The Daily Show since she was about 4 months old. In fact, her motivation for pivoting for the first time was so she could turn herself to watch him. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty proud of my little liberal.

Sam loves Law & Order.  Everytime she hears the "DUN DUN" she turns towards the TV, and she dances whenever the theme song plays.

LOL, Phoenix too. We have a video of her dancing to the theme music on facebook. Girl has some serious moves, its ridiculous.

  • A guy I dated briefly a long time ago & remained friends with posted this on FB. I want to defriend him and probably will after reading this. I'm not interested in his life anyway. My thoughts are bolded.

    Here are some of mine:

    1. IF Jerry Sandusky did what he is accused of, then he should rot in hell. IF?! Um, I think there were several witnesses.

    2. Joe Paterno is not to blame for what happened. The media wants to take him down because he is the "big man on campus". Not to blame as he did not physically commit the crime, but he is responsible to act on allegations, meaning get the authorities involved ASAP, not just tell your superiors. BTW if he told his supervisors then why didn't he FOLLOW UP and find out WHY this guy was still around. Also, this guy was his defensive coord, it would be totally under his jurisdiction to fire his a$$ and call authorities.
    ...
2a. In 1998, one of the victims' mothers confronted Sandusky at his home with police eavesdropping on the conversation. Sandusky admitted what he did and refused to promise not to do it again. The police investigated and the Centre County DA decided not to press charges. I would like to hear that DA's reasoning for not pressing charges.
Me too. Why did the system fail?

2b. In 2000, a janitor witnessed one of Sandusky's offenses. He reported it to his supervisor who told him how he could escalate it if he chose to do so. The janitor never reported it. His supervisor never reported it either. Why is nobody screaming for their heads over not reporting it?  The PSU institution idol worships their football stars, what do you think would've happened to them if they did report it? They'd be called naysayers, someone with a grudge wanting to bring the program down, make money, etc. - that's what.

2c. The graduate assistant: Mike McQueary. McQueary is a former football player. Why did he not confront Sandusky - physically if necessary - when he witnessed the abuse?  See my statement above.

2d. McQueary's dad has been quoted as saying its been hard on him because he has known about this abuse for 10 years. Why didn't he report it to police? And why is nobody calling for his head for not reporting it? See my statement above.

    3. Paterno's legacy should not be tarnished by this. He has done right by the thousands of players that he has coached. He has done more for the university than can be measured.  OK he's a good strategist and won a lot of games. His legacy as far as football and wins shouldn't be tarnished. Those are statistics that cannot be refuted.  As an educator & humanitarian (as stated on his statue at the school) his reputation/legacy is. He had a moral obligation as both to say something.  He's a football coach not the Dalai Lama!

    4. Sandusky is the lone guilty person here. His actions do not define the university or the football program.  No, he's not the only one guilty.  EVERYONE who had knowledge (from janitor to the PSU President) and did not act are guilty.  Just b/c others did not physically commit the crime, does not mean that they are without guilt or obligation to report it. They all need to go down.

  • - Ellie's been watching tv for a good year now. We put on Yo Gabba Gabba or Fresh Beat Band and she watches that while we cook dinner. She gets up and "sings" along and dances so it's not like she's sitting sedentary for hours on end. And, she's totes brill, so i don't think there's anything to worry about.

    - I don't think that students should be allowed to take out more student loans than what they need for tuition & fees, r&b, and books. Taking out copious amounts of loans to live off of is ridiculous. The only exception should be if your program does not allow you to have a job (i.e. like law schools do with first years.) Otherwise, get a freaking job. It's not that hard to work a FT job and go to school at the same time. I worked 40-50 hours a week while taking 15-18 hours a semester for 4 years. It can be done, you just have to do it.

I'm not saying anything against people who have student loans, because I have $20k of them under my belt too. I'm just saying, taking out $100k in loans for an undergrad in theatre arts? not a wise decision.
