Rick Perry.

Indifferent

Did we all see his disaster of an answer from the debate last night. He should just step out of the race now.  wow.

Re: Rick Perry.

  • I didn't see it. What did he say?

  • That is the problem, he didn't. He said he'd cut three departments of government and then listed two. For the next minute or so he couldn't come up with the third in his  plan. It was awkward politician momen at its finest.

  • I saw it on the news this morning, over and over again. Yeah, he needs to just fall away now. Although I'm not loving Mittins or the Herminator as options either.
  • I didn't see it, but I heard it was pretty bad. doesn't he realize he's in the big leagues now?

I'm not supporter of the man.  But he made a mistake.  People make those.  Doesn't mean he should drop out of the race.

    Oh dear.

His rebuttal on twitter was that even though he could only think of 2 out of 3 that was more than Obama ever cut. Good response.

I don't think he should drop out, but I do think it's the end of this campaign--the media is running with this one. So, it might be wise for him to stop spending money before he's in to deep.

Yeah, I've noticed that today.  It really disgusts me.  Our current and most recent past Presidents both had a history of drug abuse...yet this man has a brain fart during a speech (albeit a long and painful one) and it renders him un-electable?  I know there's other things people don't like about him, sure, but this?!?  Really?!?

And I'm pretty sure that Twitter response was a joke, I saw an article about that earlier, but I don't have a link.

I have no doubt that it was.

I am very much not a supporter of his, so this mistake is so obvious. A president has to think on their feet and be quick with answers. I couldn't imagine him doing that when talking to world leaders. If it was one of his big ideas, he should be able to speak about it much easier than that. And I do think the media will drag it out forever, which will just be bad for him.

It does remind me of the democratic candidate who did that strange yell thing after performing well. It ruined his chance. Running for president is serious stuff.

  • I am not basing his need to fall away now on this one "oops", it's just another in a series of events that are dropping him down the line, so it would be a good time to bail out.

Ok, that was Howard Dean. I worked on his campaign and I was at the event in which the infamous scream took place. Most of the people at the event were campaign workers and HUGE supporters and we were bummed that he did not perform well at the caucuses so he was cheering his troops up (much like a coach would do) And, that scream was not near as dramatic in person as it was made to be by the media. When you heard it on TV you couldn't hear sound in the background (they took it all out) and that place was LOUD, he had to scream to be heard over all of crazies!

It was really unfortunate. The media ran with it and totally killed that campaign. :( I guess that is my point. One small misstep during a campaign (even if it isn't a real misstep) can really damage a campaign. And like somebody else said, Rick Perry has ha other missteps too.

This was my thought after watching it. If it's something he feels strongly about doing, he should be able to speak about it more easily than that. Sure, we all have brain farts from time to time, but when you're running for president, you're judged on every little thing. I think this misstep will be the end of his campaign.
