How many tv's in your house (that you use)

DH and I were talking about this last night since I want to get a tv for upstairs.  We currently have 1 tv in our family room and nothing else.  None in the bedrooms, etc.  Both of us are dvring shows and it's preventing us from watching something else if we don't want to watch what we're recording.  (usually 2 things at once).

So:  How many tv's in your house that you use on a regular basis?

Re: How many tv's in your house (that you use)

  • We don't have a TV.  We bought a TV converter antenna thing for our desktop computer, which is in our living room.  Our small apartment doesn't really have room for a TV stand and a computer desk, so we just have the computer.

  • technically, we have two because we got a new tv last week but the old one will be given away. currently it's collecting dust behind one of our couches.

  • Shamefully we have 3.

In our defense, buying two tvs (one in the family room, one in DH's man cave) was cheaper than marriage counseling. The third is just pathetic - in our master bath so I can get my Matt Lauer on in the morning.

  • We have three. 55 inch in the living room (main TV), 46 inch in the den/sunroom, and 32 inch in the bedroom. They all have DVRs hooked up to them and it works well for when we want to watch separate things.
  • We have two.  One in the linving room and one in the guest room.  both have TIVO.  The LR tv has a dual tuner, so we can record two things at once!
  • Technically we have 1 TV that is hooked up to Comcast.  However, DH has a TV monitor as his computer monitor, and he watches movies on his computer.  We have brought a laptop into our bedroom to watch movies.  I have watched DVDs on my computer when paying bills in the dining room.  So 1 actual TV, 3-4 computers that can play movies/Hulu.

  • we just have one tv in our basement and it gets turned on about twice a week. we used to have one in the living room, but it didn't get used that much either. since Warner was born, we basically stopped watching tv and really haven't missed it at all.

we do watch the Daily Show pretty much every night, but we watch it on my computer.

  • We have our main DVR one in the family room - that is our only DVR (SIL can access it from her TV in the basement so she uses ours so she didn't have to buy an expensive box).  We do have one hooked up to cable in our bedroom but it is rarely used.
  • We're only in a 2BR condo, and we have one in our main living area. DH and I agreed we don't want one in our bedroom, but we would probably get another one if (WHEN) we move to a bigger place, probably for a basement/family room-type area.

i like to watch tv while i nurse, and since i've done that for four of the six years we've lived here, it's important to me to have a tv in our bedroom (since that's where i nurse). i also like to have the news on in the morning.

DH and DS mostly use the family room tv. DS can operate it himself now, and watches cartoons on weekend mornings.

  • We don't have a tv either. If we want to watch a show we stream it online the next day, and most political things are aired on websites live, so we haven't missed it. We use my husband's computer to watch movies, etc.
  • We have 2 that are connected, but we don't regularly use either. The one in our bedroom we use for an occassional movie, but since we do no TV with LO and we cosleep, it rarely gets used. We also have a TV in our basement for active playing video games like Rock Band and DDR, but we haven't done that in 1.5 years. We do stream shows sometimes, but we cancelled Netflix because it was so rare that it wasn't worth it anymore.

  • We have two...DH's HDTV giant baby in the basement with a DVR hook up for watching all things sports.

i have a small craigs list purchase tv in the kitchen for watching the news and catching up on some show while making dinner or cleaning the kitchen OR having something to watch while DH is watching sports (see above).

i could live without TV a bit i think but DH sell the dog before not having ESPN  or WGN at home. i even tried the "you can watch it online" idea before and no go.

  • We have one in our living room, one in the basement, one in our bedroom and one in the guest room....but we have NO new tvs. Our newest tv is over 25 years old.....they're the HUGE/HEAVY tvs. One day we will upgrade to current technology...

  • We have two, one in the mancave and one in the living room.  We really only use the living room one for TV though, and the other one is primarily for DH's video games.
