    1. Hobbies? I am an avid reader, so reading. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes.

    2. Have you and your H discussed boy names yet? Yes, the night of the ultrasound! Middle name will be Scott or Tucker (family names on my side). Our top first names include Reid, Henry, Carter, Graham, William, Bennett, Samuel, and Luke.

    3. Have you told family and friends you're expecting? How did/will you tell them? Yes; told immediate family right away, and close friends pretty early on. We waited until after 12 weeks to tell everyone else. No cute stories, sorry!

    4. Favorite thing about teaching? I love when a student grasps a previously foreign concept. Being able to be a part of that process is amazing. I also appreciate the relationships I get to build with students.

    5. If you weren't a teacher, what career would you choose? I would probably do some type of public health education work.

Favorite movie? Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Sound of Music, When Harry Met Sally.

Best vacation you've been on? DH and I took a trip to New York for our first anniversary over Christmas in 2008. It was our first major trip together besides our honeymoon (we didn't date very long). I just loved the city during the Christmas season.

What colors will your nursery be? Neutrals with light blue accents.

What was the most annoying thing people said to you while TTC? Lol. All of the cliches: Just relax, It will happen when God allows it, Maybe it's not your time. But my "favorite" was when a coworker told me infertility was God's method of population control. Granted, we didn't struggle with IF nearly as much or as long as some do, but it still stung.

Are you enjoying being pregnant? The first trimester was pretty awful, what with recovering from hip surgery, going back to work, and significant morning sickness. I'm loving about week 15 and on.

How long have you been on the knot/nest? I was never on the knot. I joined the nest a couple of months before my wedding for the What's Cooking board and that was fall 2007.

Do you post on the bump? I did when we were having trouble TTC and going through that process (diagnosis, surgeries, etc.) Now I just pop into my month board and lurk occasionally to catch product recommendations and deals on the baby gear board.

Who do you think you relate to the most on this board? Since I'm lame and never make it to GTG's, it's hard to base this answer off of online personalities. I often find myself knodding my head to answers from 5thof july and Mcgillicuddy. I love puppy's Norman bias. I like hearing fuzzy's thoughts on teaching because I tend to share them. Seems like boymom has a matter of fact view on life, which I appreciate.

Describe your perfect Saturday. Wake up early, well rested. Have a quiet light breakfast. Go on a walk with the dog. Meet a friend for coffee. In the afternoon, DH and I would do something local (festival, museum, etc.) then go to one of our favorite restaurants for dinner. Maybe meet friends for drinks afterwards, or just come home and watch something in our queue.

If you had $500 to spend today, what would you buy (can't say pay off debt)? I would put it towards a king bed.

What about motherhood are you most looking forward to? I'm excited about investing in another human being and sharing that with DH. I'm just so happy to be growing our little family and raising a child.

What about motherhood are you most scared of/nervous about? Not being able to fix everything for my son. Watching him fail and not being able to do anything about it. Unknown trials he might face that I can't control.

I'm sure I've known this in the past, but what do you do for a living? I teach high school English.

What's your most valuable skill?  I can edit a paper like no one's business. (Please don't judge me by my nest grammar.) I'm a very quick reader. Lol. Not exactly life-saving skills.

What is the best and worst thing about teaching English (and/or your school)?

  • imagedvbem:

Who is your celeb-crush? Jim from The Office

What is your go-to outfit? Jeans, flats, and a tee w/ a cardigan. Diamond stud earrings, watch, rings. My style is very simple.

What is the best and worst thing about teaching English (and/or your school)? I love that I get to teach so many disciplines with my subject. I feel like math or science would be more limiting. Negatives to teaching English are the amount of grading and the fact that there is so much subjectivity in the study of literature--students have trouble with that.

What is your favorite time of day and why? Morning, before the world is busy. I love mornings to myself.

I totally stole this question, but (besides teaching) what are three areas/topics that you feel most qualified to give advice on?

    1. Making a career change

    2. Managing health conditions

    3. How to deal with sensitive, dry skin. Seriously.

What's one food that you can't manage to cook? I can't bake to save my life. It's quite sad.

What's your best dish? I make excellent soups and often wow people with my crockpot dishes (as in, they can't believe it's a crockpot meal). I enjoy cooking but I'm not too much of a snob when it comes to a dish's level of complication...simple can be just as good.

what baby related thing(s) you think you will splurge on?  What do you think is a waste of money? I will splurge on a nice carrier/wrap, upholstered glider (that doesn't look like a baby glider) and stroller. I think expensive cribs, clothing, bedding are all wastes b/c they're such short-term items.

What is your favorite food? I love appetizers and hors d'oeuvres with a good glass of wine. Savory over sweet always wins for me.

if you didn't teach high school english, what would you teach? I teach in a small school, so we don't offer many electives. But in a larger school, I would enjoy teaching journalism, psychology/sociology, test prep, and career prep courses. I do teach creative writing and reading for pleasure electives some semesters and those are a blast!

  • What do you and your H fight about the most?

Did you tell your co-worker to go fvck herself when she said that to you?!

what were you like in high school compared to now?

What do you and your H fight about the most? Most of our fights stem from our personality differences that cause us to have contrasting outlooks on situations and different expectations. We've been married long enough now that our fights follow a very predictable pattern. He's an optimist, I'm a pessimist, he's laid back, and I'm a planner, etc.

Did you tell your co-worker to go fvck herself when she said that to you?! No, and only because she didn't know her audience. I probably still should have, though. I'm a pansy.

what were you like in high school compared to now? Oh man, I was such a snob in high school. I was your standard church youth grouper, student council member, young Republican, played tennis, etc. I'm much more humbled by life now. I am still active in my faith, but I lean much differently politically. I was nerdy in high school, but I tried to hide it despite the AP/honors classes. Now I let it fly.

Who's your favorite author? I can't pick one! I have tons of favorites in different categories. I did read a book by Abraham Verghese (Cutting for Stone) this summer that blew me away. It's the only one I've read of his, but it's been a long time since I've read something in which the writing impacted me so greatly. So he's a new fave.

If you could live anywhere for a year, where would it be? In the U.S. it would be San Francisco.

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now? I'm pretty certain we'll be in the OKC area. God-willing, have this healthy child and another one. DH will still be working as a PA, and I'm sure I'll be working in education. I don't need anything to change greatly in the next 10 years!

What's your least favorite thing about teaching? When I worked in marketing and had an office job, it was easy to have an "off" day when I was sick or had personal stuff going on. I could just chill at my desk and minimize contact with people, catch up on work, etc. There are no "off" days in teaching.

What are your plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas? Thanksgiving with my family in Texas, Christmas with H's family around here. Then a couple of days after Christmas in Tx with mine.

What's your favorite thing about your H? What's something about him or something he does that drives you crazy? I love that he is the least selfish person I know. His extremely laid back nature drives me crazy.

Favorite food? Favorite alcoholic drink? Non-alcoholic? I love pretty much any and all appetizers and hors d'oeuvres. Red wine. Water.
