I have been on the birth control pill for two years but am getting off of it to start charting my fertility. We are going to use condoms until I can chart as a form of birth control but we cannot seem to find a condom that works for us. My husband is rather large and we've tried Trojan Magnums and Trustex XL and neither have been successful-as in they are too tight for my husband or he can't feel anything and it doesn't last long if you know what I'm saying. What recommendations do you have for larger condoms?
P.S. We are very happily married and have an amazing sex life, just to rule that out.
Re: Condom troubles
Have you considered a diaphragm with spermicide?
There's also the female condom and I think they still sell vaginal film (it's a spermicide) and the Today sponge.
Don't have sex ever again.
Just kidding. I think the female condom is an option to go. Also, if you decide to go with the female condom and you're not completely confident that it'd work (since it's realtively new), you can also do the pull-out method at the same time. Yes, the pull-out method isn't 100% effective, but it's an 'additional' option.
It also sounds like it wont be long before you start TTC???
I seem to remember that Lifestyles Large size condoms are at least as big as Magnum XLs....
I'm assuming you're going off BCP because you plan on TTC? So then why would you be worried about birth control? YOu say you want to chart your fertility and also you want to chart as a form of birth control. I'm confused. Charting as a form of birth control does not sound very safe if you're not ready for a child. It just seems most logical to stay on the BCP until you're ready to concieve and then go off it and have unprotected sex, especially if you're not finding luck with condoms. Otherwise I would suggest female condoms as PP have suggested.
I agree with this 100%. Or of course you could just use the pull out method. Are you people on crack? If you don't want to get pregnant stay on BC or use condoms. if you want to get pregnant have sex without protection. How stupid can you be?
I don't know if you're being overly dramatic as sarcasm, or just overly dramatic. I chart my fertility as a form of birth control and have been successful for almost a year. I know women who chart for BC and never want children. It's as effective as you make it.
OP, I don't have any advice re: condoms. My hubby fits the Trojan Magnum, so we haven't had that issue. I just wanted you to know how great natural family planning and charting has been for me. It's awesome to be hormone free and feel in control of your own body. you'll love it! good luck
