Christmas cards

I make them every year for family and close friends.  Cheaper than buying gifts and I like doing it.

I have some antique-y traditional-themed Christmas card supplies from last year, but I also want a new theme to use.  Should it be:

Snow - silver, white, blues

Jolly - Santa, stockings, bold colors, more whimsical

Golds, deep greens, nature-based (deer, trees, birds)

Music, bold reds, carolers, song lyrics, yada yada

Any other ideas?  It's always difficult for me to pick.  Michaels will be where I'm going for everything.

Re: Christmas cards

  • Do the snow theme!  I love silver and blues together.
"You cannot protect yourself from sadness without protecting yourself from happiness."
  • I vote nature-based.  I'm a little sick of blue, white and silver snowflakes.

  • I vote Golds - I like the nature idea!

  • I vote for music since you've gotten back into singing this year. It's personal, yanno?
    This is my siggy.
  • Okay so I just got back from Michaels and here's what I got:

Silver and gold card stock for the cards themselves

Not a lot to choose from in terms of song/instruments/song lyrics. So I stuck with more wintry for the silver card stock.  I got some snowflake items but also some jolly-themed items that will match with the silver/white/blue theme (stockings, presents, etc).

For the gold, I couldn't find ANY cool/retro nature stuff. None. I was pissed... and then I remembered I have really cool leaf rubber stamps at home that my aunt got me.  So I bought deep green ink and a tri-colored ink pad with dark gold, lighter gold and silver ink.  So I'll combine some more of the antique traditional stuff with nature, and use more golds and greens with those themes.

And I found some basic "happy holidays", "noel", "merry christmas" rub-on decals in a few colors and will use those, too.

    Yay!

Oh. LOL.  Since I'm single, living alone and essentially by myself for the vast majority of the holiday season, I said I NEED A TREE and got a teeny one for my kitchen table, and bought mini-ornaments.  Basic, but it will make me really happy.

  • Sounds great!  I was just getting ready to say you should do the music cards.  And hooray for the tree, too!  Are you going to decorate it this weekend or wait for a little while?

Oh, there are a grand total of like 10 ornaments and it's only 2 feet or so. heh.  I'll probably put it up this afternoon.
