If you get a chance today, thank a veteran! I sent my brother a text this morning
:-)
Anyone have big plans this weekend? Next week is my last week of maternity leave. I'll be spending this weekend cuddling and snuggling baby R. I'm trying not to be sad that we won't get to spend as much time together soon. I have to remember that she'll be in good hands with her daycare and that I'll enjoy being back to work with other adults.
Re: Veterans Day Randoms
I realized this AM that my family no longer has any veteran's alive. It was just my granddad's. My dad and uncle were not in any wars nor were my cousins. Were just civilian family. I don't think it counts that my 1 Uncle has worked for military contracts design planes does it? Wop send a txt to your bro for me.
I'll be grocery shopping and dropping of my donations to Goodwill. We are a bit boring over here.
This is what we have planned too. I can't wait to have some dresser space back.
This time is was SS turn to go through his closet and clean it out. He brought down 31 shirts that are in really really good condition but don't fit him anymore. I'm pretty sure he never wore them. I cleaned out some more shoes.
The Wop family was up at 5:30 this morning. It's going to be a long day.
Jim gave Willa a post-it note pack yesterday. By the end of the day, she had written on every sheet and posted them around the house. Our names on our kitchen chairs, a welcome home note, her morning routine - in pictures - so she could flip through them when getting ready...
So, if any of you have a 5 year old to Christmas shop for, post it notes might be a good option.
This is a hoot! I can totally see my precocious 5-year-old nephew doing the same thing.

Good morning, friends!
I don't really have anything to report. Just wanted to say hi.
Me too! Hello.
Weekend plans...hmmm...
H and I are going on a date overnight to the casino tonight. I look forward to indulging in some (ok, a lot of) Moscato, some gambling and maybe some pool time. T will be hanging with grandma.
No plans for tomorrow, and Sunday heading to Kent City for my nephew's birthday party.
Ugh! That sounds awful.
I have today off from work. I was fully expecting Brielle to be up at 7. She slept till 7:30. I'll take that! Since getting up we've had breakfast, played in her room, watched a little tv, made some no bake cookies, cleaned the kitchen, picked up the dinning room, put the storm windows on the doors & played with the doll house. O.k. Bri didn't do a lot of that but she did "clean" her doll house. LOL!
We're going to Elmo Live tonight. Bri doesn't know we're going. I can't wait to tell her! She's going to be excited!
)
I need to get more in the loop with kid things. I basically know nothing about what kids like these days.
But dang, T would have loved that too (though I think his attention span would probably be too short to actually go.)
Aw, Wendy, I'm sad for you.
Now you have to go to the W MI dealie.
Feel better.
Thanks! And yes, I'm thinking about going next weekend now.
Missy, have a great time tonight. I considered making that a family outing, but all of the sudden, Henry turns off Sesame Street when the big E comes on. "I don't like Elmo anymore." Huh. Okay.
Our weekend isn't much of a weekend. Jim has to work tomorrow. And Sunday. I think the kids and I will have a lot of movies and snuggling while Henry and I recover, and probably Willa peak at sickness.
So, here's something... Jim has been a guest speaker at a local college's class every semester for 3 years. And now that he's done with his MA, he's been invited to submit his credentials for an adjunct position. If he takes a class, he can give up doing sound for the rock and roll church, which takes up Th nights and a good chunk of Sunday. AND he'll be starting on a path that he's been eager to try out. I think a tweed jacket might be a good Christmas gift, eh?
That's great news! Good for him!
My office is moving. I'll have less storage space at our new place. So, I've been sorting through my old files and everything else that I've accumulated over the past 6.5 years here.
I'm finding some very interesting stuff! Like my hand-written notes from my training on my first day. It's very interesting to read back through those and think about my mindset when I first started here -- and how much has changed.
I can't imagine what the people are finding who have been here for 30 years or more!
Very exciting!
Wendy - That sucks that you're sick! I hope you feel better soon!!
Des - The shows usually aren't too long. Plus kids get up, dance, ect. Since it's a kids program you don't have to worry about bugging anyone.
) There is still tickets available. They're here all weekend.
)
GRSP - That is exciting news!! I think Jim would look very good in tweed....with elbow patches.
)
Kasa - Good luck with the move. That's a big project!
Speaking of finding things from the past, has anyone heard of the site Future Me?
It's kind of silly, but you can write an email to send to yourself at some point in the future (which you choose). This week I wrote an email to get next year. I wanted to capture some of my first year stuff to look back on.
Aw! That's fantastic. Good for him.
