UK Girls - shopping for a winter coat??

Hi all,

So if you were trying to find a winter coat with a hood (seriously, why is this so difficult?), where would you look? I'm trying to make it not-expensive (under ?80 maybe?). Checked Dorothy Perkins, Next, New Look and M&S but I'm sure there's places I'm missing...

I'm on online shopper whenever possible but I can go wherever possible in Edinburgh this weekend.

Thanks!

  • Next doesn't have any? Maybe Debenhams, H&M? Macy's is now delivering internationally, maybe check there.

  • Asos.com have quite a few hooded ones! I'd try H&M too? Both are super affordable.

Finding a nice coat has become such a stress of mine... I can't find ANYTHING I like that 10 million people won't have exactly the same thing!

  • What style are you looking for?

I know TopShop and Miss Selfridge have some duffle styles with hoods.

I think this one is pretty cute.

    I would also try Asos.

  • Thanks Abby! That's along the lines of what I was thinking. I have two black nice winter coats (without hoods because I'm stupid) so anything non-black for a start. I bought a shorter purple one at Debenhams but I'm going to return it, I think I want a longer one.

So more on the casual side and something not black! There's a Top Shop downtown, I'll stop in on Saturday, thanks!

Honestly, shopping with a purpose is always so stressful. I love shopping for nothing in particular, but as soon as I have a goal it just becomes irritating!

  • I went to H&M on the weekend. They have several coats for 50% off. I got one for ?17.50. It seems like it'll be as warm as I need it to be for the winter, and it has a hood. I actually really like it and as you know we had a couple cold days this week and I was more than comfortable in it, temperature wise.

Thanks Meg! Maybe my plan should be to start at H&M and then just work my way down Princes Street.

  • Sure!

I should not have looked at asos, how cute is this coat?  I've wanted a white/cream winter coat for ages and this is lovely.  But not very practical, right?  Right??

Yup. White matches everything! And I am eternally jealous of anyone who can wear white, I immediately fall into a pile of mud when I think about it.

  • Have you looked at Tesco and Asda?  I've noticed that both have a LOT of nice winter coats....don't remember if any are specifically hooded or not.

I got an awesome hip-length lined camel-colored peacoat at Tesco last week for 15 pounds (originially 50, but it was on sale and I had a voucher).

  • Hi,

Try www.mangooutlet.com, they have really nice inexpensive coats.
