Re: Clicky: Voting

  • I registered to vote on my 18th birthday at school (the librarian helped with the process), and have voted in every election since!

I've also participated in the Democratic Caucuses for the 2004 and 2008 Elections.  ETA:  I don't consider this really being a part of the election process, because it's party-sponsored AND I didn't do anything on Election night.

  • i registered on my 18th birthday because it was important to me. i've voted for every election except one, and that was when i lost my mail-in ballot. i couldn't find it for the life of me. i was devastated because the race i cared most about was so close....but it still went in my favor....after 3 re-counts, she won by 17-ish votes. am i giving too much away? Smile

  • I registered to vote as soon as I could at 18, and have voted in pretty much every election since; I've missed a local one once, I think.

I've also done volunteering (door-knocking) for campaigns I believed in strongly. But not regularly enough for me to vote that I am "directly involved with the election process"

This. I registered at Folk Life!

  • I signed up when I turned 18 as well. I even voted by mail in when I was living in FL for the WA elections (my permanent address was still in WA). I feel like I'd be a horrible social studies teacher if I didn't participate in what I teach. Smile I always tell my students they need to vote in elections as soon as they can. I teach seniors in high school and about half of them can already vote.
  • You guys are all so involved!  That's what i meant by directly involved... not in the election proceedings, but the political process of it.

    Nice work, voters!

  • I said yes, but I'm realistically more a "usually" but I felt "sometimes" was less frequent than I actually am. I'm a last minute voter (as in, day of and then rushing to find a box to stick it in) but at least I do it. I've probably got something like a 90% record for all elections I've been eligible for.

  • I vote and I'm a member of the state executive committee of the WA State Libertarian party.

  • I think I have only not voted in 2 elections since I turned 18. One I voted but forgot to sign the envelope and never sent back the letter that I needed to sign for my vote to count. The other the ballot fell under the seat in my car and I didn't find it until after the election.

This.  And I'm very interseted and try to stay up to date on all the issues.  I have lots of friends who work in politics and I moved to DC party b/c of my interest.

  • my bday was wrong on my birth certificate until right before i got married.. so when i tried to register on my 18th bday.. they said i couldn't because something didn't match. i thought it was going to be really hard to change but it wasn't. i wish i would have changed it years ago.

    anyway, i vote now. :)
