NSOR - craigslist scams stink

No, I didn't get "bitten" by one, but I have a ton of stuff listed on there and I'm tired of getting excited to get an email only to see that they want to send me a money order and have their shipper come pick it up (or some equally stupid thing).  It's just a waste of my time.  I guess I need to revise all my listings when I get home to say cash only, local pick up.  Stupid time-wasting jerks.  That is all.

  • It is the same way for rentals.  So many scams on house rentals.  When inquired, I get a response how the owner is out of the country and for me to complete the online form and they will send me the keys.  Pullleeeezz! I am not falling for that.
  • I feel your pain.  When XH were selling our stuff in Israel I kept getting those, "I want to buy this couch for my son, please send banking info so I can wire you the money and have someone pick it up" Um, hellz no!

It is annoying but posting cash and pick up only should help.

  • I got another good one the other day...a lady said that she wanted to buy it but couldn't because her nephew crashed her car and she had to pay for it...just when she was getting on her feet making good money.  she they shared a link of how she makes money at home and said there were ONLY two spots open, and her sister was signing up later, so please don't share the link.  Ummm, no.  buh-bye. Confused

  • I sold two antique chairs a few years ago and said CASH ONLY.  The woman who bought then drove over 4 hours to get them and brought a money order.

    Angry

It turned out to be legit (whew!) but that was the last time I used craiglist (I prefer ebay since they pay first)

I thought about putting some of the small things on ebay, but I didn't want to deal with the shipping for the larger items.  Maybe I should look at the ebay local thing that I've heard about.  Maybe that can add to the weekend projects.
