Hi ladies! I know this is a little early, but...
I've lived in RI my whole life but I've never been out and about for New Year's Eve. We always end up going somewhere else. This year we're thinking of having another couple from CT stay over, and we want to take them out on the town that night. We live in Newport. Does anyone know what, if anything, is open? I'm thinking lower-key (read: not Pelham!), dinner, live music or a kick ass DJ. It has to be Newport area though. I don't drive anywhere after dinner time on NYE! Any thoughts?
Thanks!!

Re: What's Open NYE in Newport?
I think everything is open NYE in Newport! Not sure what's going to be low-key, though.
We bar-hopped one year and it was a friggin blast. I think most of the night was at O'Brien's (so not necessarily classy, but that's the kind of broad I am).
I remember falling into bushes and hating the cobblestones on the walk back to the hotel we had booked.
Ah, Newport.
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!

Pretty much all bars and restaurants are open. Many restaurants will have a special NYE menu. Some places that have a band will have a deal for dinner and you won't pay a cover (like the GasLamp and Blues Cafe). Christy's, Studio 3 will both have DJs. Rhino, GasLamp, Pelham, Blues will all have bands.
Usually the week or 2 before most places will advertise in the local papers (Mercury and Npt this week).
