Yet another job question

I need advice on how to handle a potentially tricky situation. We'll break this down as Job A and Job B.

Job A: Seems like a great company, interesting industry, really nice people. Job title would be a lateral move, pay is a slight increase from current job.

Job B: This is the job I'm really excited about. The position would be a step up professionally, it would be a move in a slightly different direction within Marketing that I think I would be really good at. The pay is a substantial increase...like 75% more than what I'm making now.

I had a phone interview w/ Job A on Wednesday and an in person this morning. It all seemed to go really well. I talked to several people within the company, we discussed salary etc. She said she'd give me time to think about it, but that if I wanted the job I needed to write a mock press release and if that went well we'd move forward...most likely with a job offer.

I have a phone interview w/Job B on Monday. If that goes well, there's 2-3 more steps. How do I approach it if Job A makes an offer before I know where I stand with Job B? If Job B wasn't an option I'd be happy w/Job A, but I'd rather have Job B and I'd like to see the interview process through. Do you tell Job A that you are in the middle of another interview process and you need some time to think? Is that ok?  Surely there are plenty of job seekers who have been in this position. What do you do?

I would not give them specific information as to why you would need time to make a decision and get back to them about their offer. Just let them know that you will need to review their offer and ask them what their required time frame is in order for you to get back to them.

On another note, congrats on being in this predicament with two potentially great job opportunities :)

That's a good idea. I was trying to figure out how to word it. I know they likely realize that people have other interviews, but I didn't really want to mention that there was a job B. Thanks! I'm really excited and thankful to have more than one potential option out there. Hopefully one of them turns into something. :)

She's absolutely right. It's not that uncommon to say you'd like to take time to review the offer & they don't really need a reason, nor should they ask for one.
