Cell phones?

I have looked at so many plans and companies that at this point I'm just frustrated!  We have been with Us Cell for YEARS and long story short, for the first time - we haven't been happy with their customer service.

We're most concerned about reception - and 2nd priority is service.  Are there any companies out there that get good reception AND provide excellent customer service when there is an issue?

We're looking at AT&T, but I've heard their reception isn't the best

Also looking at T-Mobile - but don't know much about them

Verizon I know has good reception, but heard horrible customer service?

Re: Cell phones?

  • I've always had Verizon and have never had an issue with customer service over the phone or in person.  I find the guys at the actual Verizon store at Jordan Creek Town Center to be really helpful.

  • We've had Sprint for 12 years. Reception is great, we get service everywhere BUT customer service is hit or miss and I hate the "main" Sprint store on University.
  • Despite a nasty end to our contract with Verizon, I still think their reception makes up for their not-always-so-competent customer service. I've never had anyone except a supervisor be rude to me and I spent nearly 6 months straight trying to resolve a situation that had to be taken care of by a supervisor.
  • We've had Verizon since about 2001.  They're about the only carrier who covers NW KS where our families are from.  We've had pretty good service, in multiple areas of the country (in stores) and over the phone-a few duds, but we always got our issues resolved.  We want to change, as we don't use our phones a ton, but seriously, Verizon is the only company who covers the rural area our family is from.

  • My parents, my husband & I have been sprint customers for 10 years. I have always had good service and for the price for our plan- it can't be beat. It would cost at least $45 a month more for my husband and I to have a plan with as many bells & whistles as we have now with Verizon or AT&T. I haven't had any service issues around the DM area. My parents live outside of Omaha out in the country and ran into reception issues when they were in the basement of their house so Sprint sent them a service booster at no cost. There are occasional mistakes on the bill (things like charges for activation fees when store says its free) but the customer service people have always taken care of the problems.

  • I've had Verizon for about ten years now, and love them.  I drive A LOT (50k miles a year), and only occasionally drop a call.  It's typically when I'm in a low spot next to a semi.  :)

  • YOW it sounds like Verizon is the popular choice!

Tmobile has great new plans ... tough to decide!

  • We've had verizon since I was in high school so like 2000? And I think with any place it's all hit or miss when it comes to CS. And it depends who the person is who takes your call. I've never had an issue with them that couldn't be fixed pretty easily.

I've driven to TX without loss of signal. Driven to GA w/o loss. Same with Chicago. We go to the Ozarks a lot and there are TONS of valleys & clifs that mess with the reception, but never really have lost a call.

I don't know if Team Mobile has the same coverage as Verizon. Also didn't AT&T just buy them out?

  • Another vote for Verizon. I've had them forever and it's been all good.

  • I have had contracts with all of the companies that you listed.  Verizon is by far the best.  T mobile was by far the worst. At&t drops a lot of calls.  I live in dfw, where they are based and their service isn't good.

As soon as our at&t contract ends, we are going back to Verizon.

  • We've always had verizon. I've never had an issue with bad customer service. not fabulous either, just average i'd say.  you can't beat the coverage, especially like erin said, in rural areas.

  • Verizon's coverage really is the best. Before Verizon we had TMobile. I had TMobile for years but the coverage got to be terrible. It just kept getting worse and worse. I live in Des Moines proper and my phone was dropping calls or not getting any service at all at my house. I also live on top of a hill. It was ridiculous that in the most populated city in Iowa I couldn't get consistent coverage. Their customer service was not helpful either. I hate how much our bare bones plans cost but I know that where ever I go I will be able to use my phone without issue.
