Can someone tell me what this "@" stuff is all about? NFT

Re: Can someone tell me what this "@" stuff is all about? NFT

  • It is just something other boards on here put in front of their subjects to distinguish a post that is about babies/kids. I didn't realize we did it on here, and went back 4 pages and only saw 7 or 8 posts with it in the subject.

  • someone suggested it last week after it was mentioned that not everyone wants to read baby posts, and it gets some people down

so someone suggested using that symbol so you could know if it was a baby post by looking at the subject

  • Some of us started doing it because last week someone had admitted that it was difficult to read about pregnancies and kid related posts. Someone else chimed in and said they don't read them or try to skip them. Then it was proposed we start putting the @ symbol up. I think it's a good idea. Not everyone is interested in what my son had for breakfast.

  • I suggested it the other day because not all of us have kids, so it's nice to have a heads up that the post is baby/kid related. (the subject doesn't always give it away). Also, it can be a sensitive topic for some, so they can avoid the posts if they want/feel the need to do so!

  • Thanks, I saw it mentioned on the FFFC, but I wasn't around when the decision was made. I like the idea.
  • It's my fault :-( I am fine with everyone doing what they want honestly. it's a FFFC so there shouldn't be any changes after it really!

It isn't your fault! It is no big deal to put a @ in front of these posts.

  • I get it now, what a great idea!

  • Definitely no need to feel bad, Pitt. It's a really easy thing to do and I think it's a great idea. On TB whenever there's a non-pregnancy related post they put NPR or NBR (non-bump related) in front just so people know. This is not a board about pregnancy or parenting, so I think it's perfectly reasonable to mark those posts for those who are sensitive to those topics for whatever reason.

  • Thanks!  I hadn't read the post where it was suggested and was wondering what it meant as well.

I'm not in a baby-phase in my life, and while I like to hear about everyone's kids, it's nice to be warned so I can avoid poopy-diaper questions if I want.
