Blockbuster Vs Netflix?!

I have been a long time user of Netflix and have had no issues using their mail service.  I use both Netflix and Rebox to get my movie addiction fix in on a regular basis. That being said, I hate that I don't get to see my Netflix rentals in Blu Ray and that they take so long to get in my queue.

Does anyone go through Blockbuster instead!?  I see that they have Blu Ray at no extra charge and have the newer rentals much faster than Netflix.

I'm thinking of switching services and trying it out but don't know if it's worth the hassle....

TIA Cool

Re: Blockbuster Vs Netflix?!

  • I think Blockbuster is currently running a 4 week free trial.  Why not use them both at the same time and see what you think?

By the way, I love Blockbuster Express but have a store a mile away and can use the in store option too.

  • We just switched to Blockbuster. We have Dish Network so it was kind of already included in our original package.

I love the blu Ray at no additional charge feature along with games (DH loves his PS3). I will say that if you use Netflix a lot for instant streaming you will be sorely disappointed with Blockbuster. I think the instant feature is currently only offered to Dish subscribers and the selection is terrible. But if you are in it just for the DVD's its great. We get the new releases practically the day of release and they are almost always blu Ray (unless there is a wait). The fact that you can also exchange at your local BB store (say its close to the weekend so you won't have time to ship it out and get another) is awesome as well.

  • DH and I switched to Blockbuster and didn't like it very much.  Several disks came in damaged and there was sometimes a pretty long wait for new DVDs.

  • Take this for what it's worth because we never had netflix so I have nothing to compare it to.

We've always used blockbuster and been really happy with it.   In the past 3-4 years we haven't had any issues like pp.  No damaged disks and we usually get the new dvds about a day after we send ours in.  We also really like the ability to turn the dvds in to the store to pick up something there if we want instant gratification.  DH did this last month when there were no good scary movies on tv and he wanted something Halloween-y.

  • I have Blockbuster by Mail, and I really like it.  I used to be on the 3 dvds plan, but now we only get two because there are fewer movies out that we like.
