DH is watching Thursday night's VT vs GT game, I thought I would update about India. I think we have a resolution, and I feel good about it.
DH and I talked, and talked and talked about it some more this week. He did more research and agreed with my concerns. He also emailed the MD in India asking if they had brought anyone in before. Local MD in India, who is Indian, and moved from London back to India said they try not to bring people in because of the culture shock. He said that even with the right support, people struggle.
And on Wednesday and Thursday, DH spoke with his big boss. Big boss, who is a really nice guy, has placed people in India with his previous company and confirmed that if we did we would be given necessary support, and would on a temporary package and not a local package.
However, he said that what DH has been trying to put together was really important. And although DH would be great in India, the work he is doing is really important -- he's been building a new department in London and NYC. That was Wednesday.
On Thursday, he had another meeting with DH and said that he had been debating it, but wanted to make it official made him the Director of Global Change Management. DH things the debating thing is because of his age, etc. Not in a negative way, but he is one of the youngest directors, etc.... It is more of a recognition of what he has been doing -- he's already a director, but the change management is what DH has been building and driving for the past 18 months. DH is very pleased.
So, in summary, it looks like we are staying put in London. DH might be travelling to India for a few weeks over the course of next year, but we will remain in London. I have to say I am pleased with the solution and do hope we will have the opportunity to visit India as I would love to experience the country.
Just thought I would share!
Re: India Update
It sound like you are happy with your decision. Great! Plus, that is cool that your DH is doing so well at his job.
Congrats to your H for his new title!
Looks like a good solution for you and maybe you could even join in on a few short trips if you want.
