wwyd? quilting question

I have a layer cake and 2 charm packs of the same prints. I want to make a throw sized raggy quilt and some other stuff (pillows and maybe a table runner). I also have a advent calendar kit in the same fabric coming, as well.

I am going to use the layer cake for the quilt. Would you make a 5x8 or 6x7 square rag quilt? I am going to use the rest of the charms for the pillows and table runner. I just need to find a good tutorial/pattern for the pillow(s). I  plan on getting a solid, maybe denim, fabric for the backing for them all.

Re: wwyd? quilting question

  • I'd do a 5x8 quilt bc it is a more useable size. I'd warn against denim if you're not an experienced quilter bc it will make for a very thick and hard to guide quilt sandwich

  • I'd pick chambray over denim to back.  It's the same weight as regular quilting fabric but it looks like denim.
