The BF's bday gift, question about presentation.

Hello again my lovely local ladies!

I have been posting a lot of birthday post lately.  Both Mom and the BF have bdays in November.

I arranged a flight for the BF to fly on an old WWII fighter jet.

I ended up finding a model airline that looks EXACTLY like the one he is flying in that day. I bought it and originally, I planned to give him the model airplane to open and then hand him the envelope with his flight certificate in it.

WELL, we were having a few drinks the other night and he was guessing what I had planned for him, because I had to call him and ask if he had any plans that day and/or that he needs to be back from fishing by a certain time.

He guessed scuba lessons, a swim appt with an Olympic swim coach, or flying a WWII fighter jet! Tongue TiedIndifferent Seriously, WTF?  How in the world?!  Ugh.  I suck at lying but tried to act normal.

SOOOOOO, a buddy of mine told me I should buy a speedo and cheap scuba-type goggles and have him open all three and make him guess which one he is going to do. Have him drive part of the way there and then hand him the flight certificate.

Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what I could do?  Or should I just still do what I originally planned?

Thanks.

  • I like the idea of having him open all three!  That could be fun!

This might be me just being a sap, but you could turn that in to a tradition of sorts for his bday...always have 3 things to open and let him guess the "real" gift.  I like little traditions like that between couples.

  • The only thing that would make me nervous is that if he really wanted to do one of the other things, and he kept guessing the other things, then it would make me feel like I didn't choose the "right" thing or it would get his hopes up for the others.

This.  I would feel bad if he chose the gift I picked last.
