Year 2

Just to see if anyone is still around much...

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

Worst thing?

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

    TTC in 2012.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

DH was able to start his business, and we've gotten to spend a lot of time just enjoying married life without any huge event to plan for :)

    Worst thing?

I really cant think of anything...

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

We are expecting out second year to be fairly quiet, which after this past year I am kind of looking forward too.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

My husband graduated from medical school and we bought a house.

    Worst thing?

Nothing really bad has happened.  We moved to a new city, and I guess it has been somewhat difficult to adjust/make friends.  I am also not really in love with my new job, but I think that both of these problems will get better with time.  I am glad that we moved because my DH really loves his residency position.

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage? We are currently TTC, so hopefully get a BFP after the new year!

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year? DH has been able to work less overtime and we are able spend more quality time together. We have really enjoyed our first year of marriage.

Worst thing? Can't think of anything.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?  Primarily just having a better, normal year after the past one.SIL is hopefully getting married sometime in the coming year, which will be great and means another trip to India.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?  Okay, technically it was our honeymoon, but I still have to say our trip to Peru, which we only just now got to do.  I really enjoyed myself and it made me think of all the other places I want to go.  Also, DH finally got his green card, which is a huge relief.

Worst thing?  Well obviously my mom passing away.  That's why next year has to be better!

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

Getting pregnant.  It has been quite a journey this past year.  We are also planning on adding on to the house.  Its going to be a massive project.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

We put a pool in.  It was a great summer with friends and family.  We had so many cookouts and pool parties and loved hosting people.

    Worst thing?

Miscarrigae and the struggle with infertility.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?  Buying a new house and hopefully we can finally go on our honeymoon!!

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year? Our baby girl! She was born Sept 30th!  She is amazing!

Worst thing? I cant think of anything. Always good, right!? :)

Just to see if anyone is still around much...

What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

I want to say getting pregnant, but I've learned with IF not to assume. However, I have an appt in Jan with a fantastic doctor, so I am looking forward to improved health that will maximize our chances for a baby. YEAH! And I'll cheat and add one more thing: We just bought a house WOOHOO! And we'll be moving in Jan 2012. I can't wait for home ownership and working on projects around the house.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

Let's see... there isn't one huge "best" event, but we've both started school for new careers which has been exciting. And we loved house shopping together. And we had a great vacation with my parents. Overall, we've just enjoyed married life.

    Worst thing?

All our medical issues culminating in IF. I really thought we'd be pregnant in 2011.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

Hopefully new jobs for both of us, and something 'new'.  That and paying off debt. (We've finally got a good budget going and can really pay down the student loans and CC shiit that we both accumulated.)

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

Buying a house. (Although that could also be the worst. ha it was such a process.)

    Worst thing?

I'd say just the general stress of the last year.  I won't lie; it was a hard year for us. We both had major issues with our jobs, the stress from buying a house... all compiled with my attempt an IUD, which, to put it lightly, was a *** mess.  I was all over the place emotionally (and physically), and it was really trying for us.
  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage? Taking a much needed vacation and stepping away from TTC for a little while. Also, I'm definitely looking forward to a potential career change for me.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year? DH getting his job. His previous job was such a stressor that him getting let go is actually now counted as a blessing for us. His new job is a lot less stressful and it's not as physically demanding as his previous job.

Worst thing? It was kind of a trying past couple of months for us. Dealing with the miscarriage and everything that went along with it was rough on us. October was pretty much a month of absolute hell for us.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?  Babies!  At least I'm hoping for a baby anyway.  We'll start trying after J gets a job, which is hopefully soon after the new year!

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?  I got a new job.  It's been such a godsend... my old job had me very beat down and insecure about my professional abilities, and also very overworked and overwhelmed.  I cried at least weekly.  Now, I have every weekend off, and I actually meet goals, and it's just a much better feeling overall.  I can picture myself here longterm, and it's allowed me to focus more on life outside work... and I could even fathom having kids while working here, which I couldn't at my previous job!

Worst thing?  J worked out of town a lot earlier this year (Mar-June, off and on).  We went about 4 weeks without seeing each other during one of the jobs.  That was the longest we've ever gone, and it was not fun.  But, I was surprised to realize that it was easier, in some ways, than shorter times apart when we were dating, simply because we were married.  Kind of weird, I know, but I liked having that official-ness to help me get through the time apart, and to keep my mind from wondering through What If Land.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage? holidays and summer vacation as a family

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year? my son! he's a dream and being a mom is so much better then even I had imagined - even though it can be difficult too his smiles make it all worth it

Worst thing? nothing really but I guess I would say needing a c-section. You imagine your whole life birth going a certain way and I was sad to find out I'll never experience even going into labor, even with any future children, but obviously Owens safety and mine is much more important

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?

Meeting our baby in April 2012!!!!

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?

Getting pregnant. It was a total shock, but brought us closer together.

    Worst thing?

We both admit that it was a rough year for us. Lots of issues with living together, his family especially his brother who neglected paying rent on DH's house he was renting out. We have made a pact to move on and have a fresh start for this year.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?  Welcoming our son in February and adjusting to life as a family.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year?  Besides our pregnancy, just living together in the same place and not having to travel so far to see each other every week.  Being married is work, but a ton of fun.

Worst thing?  I wouldn't call it the worst thing, but the hardest thing was leaving a very cushy job for my current one where I have to work at night.  I'm trying to be a trooper but I'm really just ready to go back to working days.  Hopefully an opportunity will come along this next year.

  • What is one thing that you're most looking forward to in your second year of marriage?  I can't just pick one thing so here are a few: 1) I need to travel to the archaeological museum in Naples for a few days to view/study/photograph the piece I'm writing my thesis on and would love it if Matt could come with me. It completely depends on money, of course, but we hope to make it work. Matt has never been out of the country so it would be especially fun for him. 2) Re-kindling the romance. We are trying to re-do our living room and I think having a comfortable sectional that we can both sit on together (i.e. the dog won't take up the whole thing forcing us to sit apart), soft lighting from lamps, and lots of candles will help set the mood in the evenings. 3) Finding a balance between work/play. We are both in school so time and money are tight. It's tough to know how to find the right balance and it's something we are trying to loosen up on so we can improve our quality of life.

Besides the wedding/honeymoon, what's the best thing that happened during your first year? There are two things. 1) Matt is in the process of making a career change and started school. He is doing awesome and finally feels like he is going somewhere. I graduated college and began grad school... possibly just another year and a half of school left until I can begin real adult life, haha. 2) We adopted our sweet greyhound, three ferrets, and two more cats. I know that sounds crazy but animals are a huge part of our life. I am so happy with our life as pet parents. The joy we get from them has really made us reconsider being parents in the not so near future... we thought we would just be DINKs forever but now I'm not so sure. ;)

Worst thing? Our sex life wasn't up to par with what the first year of marriage should be - we blame working multiple jobs and being in school but it's something we need to work on. Also, our rabbit passed away.
