Favorite Holiday Things to do in NYC

I have a lot of OOT friends (from the Nest/Bump actually!) coming to NYC around Christmas time. They would like to know what they *should* do for the holidays.  Aside from the obvious (Roc Center tree, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular), what would you guys recommend?

  • Shopping!

    Just kidding ;-)

The Union Sq and Columbus Circle markets are wonderful, they're my favorite holiday spots. Then there's skating in CP and looking at SAKS' windows... that I can think of.

  • At night, they can go see the dancing lights (not sure that's the real name) at the Time Warner building. They have these big retro stars that are lit up in different colors hanging from the ceiling. And every few minutes, music begins and the stars begin "dancing" (lights change colors and such) to the music. It's really cool!

And of course you have window shopping on Madison Ave. Barney's is doing a Lady Gaga them for their Christmas display...

  • Ooh, I didn't know about the dancing lights!  Good tip!

  • I like to go to Rolf's in Gramercy to see the elaborate decorations.
  • See the lights at the Brooklyn or Bronx Botanical Garden! It is so beautiful that time of year.

Here is a list of lighting ceremonies throughout NYC:

Be sure to find out their favorite foods and take them out to at least one restaurant!:)
