Out of Control

Someone stop me.  I cannot stop buying Kennedy stuff for Christmas.  And her birthday is less than 2 months later.  The only person worse than me is my mom. I don't even want to say what we've spent as a combined total, and I'm no where near done.

Re: Out of Control

  • Haha.

I wish I could say the same for Macy but we are oh-so broke right now.  Well......not really we are just in the middle of a MAJOR home renovation so we are on a spending freeze until all of the construction is finished.   I don't think our improvements will be finished until the beginning of next year so it looks like it will be a a small scale christmas for us this year :

  • I've had to really cut back on my spending to bank some Christmas funds.  We're trying to save money for *another* down payment when we have to move *again* next year.  I guess because I haven't been shopping as much, now I'm going wild.  Oh, and the fact that my mom's buying half the stuff helps. lol

  • My MIL and BIL are going Christmas crazy over Bean, it's really cute. We haven't bought much yet for her, because she really don't need anything. And anything she wants lasts about two seconds and then she's over it, ha. I think we are going to do something big for her birthday since her my best friend (god mother and namesake) will FINALLY be coming home from the Peace Corp. They share the same birthday and this will be the first time they share it together. :)
  • I think my theory is that I'll buy everything she needs for the next year between Christmas and her birthday, and then I won't really have to buy anything else.  We can just alternate toys.  And I keep coming up with new stuff that will help her developmentally.  Honestly, I think I'm more bored with her current toys than she is.  lol

  • I know exactly what you are talking about. This is Lila's first Christmas, and yes, I know that she won't remember it.... But, I don't want her to have like 6 presents under the tree. H is planning on taking his vacation pay, the week of Thanksgiving to use it on Black Friday. He said "we are done buying Lila presents"... "Um.. then why are you cashing in your vacation?"... he wants to spend it on himself! I could kill him, lol. We have only spent like $200 and 2 of her toys were $50ea. She doesn't have enough yet!!!

  • I think between my mom, and what we've spent we're pushing about $800.  I just got a hell of a deal on the 3 in 1 Smart Trike from TRU.  It was originally $130 ($189 on Amazon) and I got it for $79.  I keep saying it's the last big thing I'm buying, but I also want to buy her the Fisher Price house, which is on sale at TRU for $75 right now.

  • Also, I think I might have restraint this year because I know Macy looses interest in toys so quickly.  Plus my living room already looks like a garage sale yard so I am kinda over buying more big toys at the moment.  This year I will be doing most of my shopping at the dollar store for her gifts.  I mean, she will get a few good toys, but mostly cheap ones, LOL.

$800!? LOL... you ARE out of control! I was thinking like $300-$400, is more than enough for a first Christmas.

Kathy, Lila's Vtech toy arrived the other day :) Thanks for the input on it.

MIL got Bean a 3in 1 trike, too. What else have you gotten her?  I say if you have the means to spoil your kid, do it. So, I won't stop you. :P

This, completely. But loses instead of looses. :P

Okay, I will stop posting now. Ha.

We've done a lot of the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn stuff.  We did the Fisher price sing along stage.  The first kitchen, and I really want to get the Fisher Price House.  I did the Dino ball popper.  A Jack in the Box type thing.  Blocks, snap beads, tons of books, clothes, some crawling toys, a big foam play mat.  I've also been big on the Melissa and Doug toys - like a "first purse" that she can put stuff in and take it out, and some of the first puzzles.  Oh, and Baby Einstein DVDs.  And some sign language DVDs. lol

I know, I know.  But in my defense, we bought tons of books, which are expensive!  And we also bought a bunch of clothes.  Some of which we may need to break out sooner since we're going to NC and she doesn't have a lot of warm stuff.  And she's my mom's first grandbaby, so she's totally going crazy.
