We finally have signed contract!

We are so excited!  The sellers finally signed off on a contract.  We offered less than their asking price, we'll put our house on the market Jan 2. and we need to sell ours by April 1.

We fixed up two bedrooms over the weekend and next week I have a POD and movers coming to clear out half the house.  After all that I'll be feeling more in control I think so I can focus on getting the house staged to sell.

Inspections will begin Thanksgiving week after DH returns from a business trip.

Anyone have any good tips for selling a house with children?  I have seen the one about keeping an empty laundry basket in the door so you can fill it with clutter to throw in th car as you drive around during a showing.  Anything else?

Thanks!

  • Clutter free is always a good start. They say it helps a buyer picture themselves in the home.Good luck!
  • We are fortunate to have grandparents live nearby, so when it was time for a showing, in addition to the laundry basket thing, I sent LO to the grandparents so I could do a good cleaning and stage (i.e. de-babyproof) the house.

That's a great idea too! Thanks!

  • I read advice from someone on here with kids that said to make sure you don't leave toys (or anything for that matter really) around because that basically screams that you don't have the space to put your things in.
