I really like where I live.
The people who live in the main house are nice and leave me alone, no issues, they help if something goes funky in my place.
As far as I knew, the only people who lived there were myself, in the studio, and the main couple in the main house.
Lately I have seen a random dude cooking in the kitchen when they weren't around, and thought... hmm. Interesting.
I kept seeing him, and one day I was looking for a package that was supposed to arrive that day. I knocked on the sliding door, and the dude was in there. We talked for a minute, and... turns out he lives there too. Rents the spare bedroom. Apparently he's newer, too.
Both of us had never been introduced to one another and we were never told "oh, hey, if you see this lady/guy, it's 'cause they live here, too".
No big deal, really. I don't NEED to know what happens in the main house. Whatev.
A few weeks later, I kept seeing little items appear in the back yard (my entrance is back there). A stroller. Some toys. One day, an entire swing set appeared. No kids live here.
Then I started seeing a couple with a young child (maybe 2 years) come in and out of the house. I heard them speak a few times and they are foreign. I thought, huh. The woman in the house is Danish, so maybe they are relatives for a visit? But why ALL the kiddie appliances outside... huge ones?
Again, no one had told me who they were, so while bringing in the mail one day I introduced myself and shook their hands. But really, I wasn't given confirmation that they're related to the folks in the house, how long they're planning to stay, if they are all-out moving in... no idea. They have no car.
Is this weird? Thoughts? I feel slightly annoyed that I wasn't given a heads-up, like HEY, these people aren't rapists or burglers, they will be in your space for the next however many months. It's confusing to me. And the kid cries. All the time. The noise barriers are nil around here, even with the windows shut.
Re: Would you find this odd?
I don't think it's weird at all. The landlords don't have to tell you when people are moving in and out. My parents have a 3 family house and don't let the other tenants know when the other is moving in and out. And even if one of the tenants is having an out of town guest or something, I don't think it's the others business.
I'm not sure why you think just from introducing yourself that they must tell you if they're related to the owners and how long they're staying or if they're moving in. I certainly wouldn't tell someone who just introduced themselves that much info about myself.
Yes, I live behind their garage. It's like half garage, half my studio

Yeah, this is what I'm telling myself. It's no biggie, they don't need to tell you anything, really.
Part of me is still very slightly annoyed. lol. Oh well, I'm human.
